Bigg Boss 14 aired its first episode today and the grand premiere saw Eijaz Khan, Nikki Tamboli, Abhinav Shukla, Rubina Dilaika, and a few others make their way to the stage with Salman Khan. With the contestants all geared up, we got in touch with Eijaz, who was recently seen in Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka on Star Plus and has been a huge name in the industry for the past few years.
Read excerpts from the interview...

What changed your mind to say yes to the show despite being approached earlier as well?
I think my whole approach to life has changed, we were compelled to grow out of our comfort zone in this pandemic, especially this year and I think that is one of the key things that changed in me and guided me to take this. This whole year is about doing things that you weren’t expected to do, and we survived through it and I think that is why I took up Bigg Boss because I think I am cut out for survival now.

What kind of mindset are you entering the show with in terms of how will the audience perceive you?
Fortunately, I've been in the industry for a long time for my audiences to know, so I am not worried about that, yes you are in a situation where you can be triggered, where you will be mentally challenged. All I am trying to do is stay grounded, stay humble that I've got this opportunity and I shouldn't be wasting it.

Did you receive any kind of advice from friends and family?
A lot of people actually said just don't try to stoop to any level which people will try to target you, they're also playing the game so they are trying to you, be aware of that. Apart from that, I don't have plans and I get anxiety thinking what is going to happen, where am I going, what am I going to do, so I'm trying not to think about it, I'll take each day as it comes, take every weekend as a new year for me, and start afresh.

Have you followed earlier seasons. If yes, who has been your favourite?
The show is so big that regardless you're following it or not, you know what's going on. I haven't really sat down and seen every episode, I know what the format is, what happens, I haven't studied it because that will take the novelty away. Even I want to enjoy it and not go with a fixed mindset. I relate to people who are no-nonsense, people who are straight forward, people with integrity. I'm not that smart or diplomatic and I relate to people who are real. From the past, I think Sidharth Shukla maybe, I relate to him a little. My favourites include Asim Riaz, Shehnaaz Gill was very cute, I don't know if she played the game or that's how she was, but I think she was very effective.

With his entry and the start on the show, fans will sure get to see an interesting side to the actor. Are you excited to see them? Drop your comments in the section below.
