• Will MasterChef happen in Kannada?

It hasn’t been long since the south Indian versions of the popular cookery show MasterChef were announced. In fact, the shoot for the in Tamil and Telugu versions, which will be hosted by Vijay Sethupathi and Tamannaah Bhatia, is currently on in Bengaluru.

• In Kannada, Kichcha Sudeep was expected to host the show, but we now hear that it is unlikely to happen. A source from the channel says, “We were supposed to seal the final deal with Kichcha Sudeep, due to various reasons, we couldn’t do the show in Kannada. We are not ruling out reviving it later on, and are still hopeful of bringing Sudeep on board for the show.”

Format, Concept:

• 
• The show will be on the lines of MasterChef Australia, with 15 contestants and three chefs as judges.
  
• The winner of the show will receive the Masterchef title and a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh. MasterChef will have an overall of 30 episodes.

Meanwhile, Sudeep who was supposed to host MasterChef in Kannada, is continuing to host Bigg Boss Kannada season 8. On the film front, he has wrapped up shooting for Vikranth Rona.

• 
• For a while, there have been rumours that Kichcha Sudeep is set to host a cooking show. Well, it's true and as it turns out, the show is the Kannada version of Masterchef India.
  
• According to sources, the Innovative Film Academy, in association with VELS Film International and Invenio Films, has taken the franchisee rights from Endemol Shine to produce the show in four languages - Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
  
• While Sudeep is the host of the Kannada version, Vijay Sethupathi will chip in for Tamil, Kajal Aggarwal for Telugu and Prithviraj for Malayalam.
  
• The show, which will have 2 opening and closing episodes of 90 miunutes each and 26 episodes of one hour each, will be shot at a film city in Bidadi, where a massive set, as per Masterchef requirements, is being put up.
  
• The source adds that the show will begin with the Tamil version, auditions for which are currently on. While a formal announcement is expected soon, the team, we hear will be in Bengaluru on April 25 for a grand launch.
