Ekta sends legal notice to Sunil Anna
Ekta Kapoor’s and Sunil Shetty’s co-produced film The Little Godfather is eighty percent complete but has come to an untimely halt. The reason the film has been shelved is because both Mission Istanbul and EMI, co-produced by the duo, bombed at the box office. Now, a furious Kapoor has apparently sent Shetty a legal notice.
Our Indya source says, “Sunil Anna, who is looking after the production, will not complete the film. So Balaji, who has the rights to sell the film, can’t do so.” Since both production houses are in no mood to cooperate, Ekta’s company Balaji has sent a legal notice to Anna’s production house Popkorn Motion Pictures Ltd. Apparently, Shabbir Boxwalla, co-partner at Popkorn, denied getting any legal notice and said, “After 26/11, we were not allowed to shoot at local train stations.” The film focuses on how the train blasts of July 11, 2007, affected the lives of hawkers in Mumbai’s local trains. But director Joy Augustine, adding a twist to the story, said they already had the permission to shoot at the local stations. About the legal notice, he said, “I too have heard that Balaji has sent a legal notice. But I cannot comment on it.” Ekta Kapoor was unavailable for comment. She is known for her knack for drama onscreen as well as off it. Her short temper has created problems with several people who have worked with her. In 2008, she had a huge problem with Prachi Desai who wanted to move on from Balaji serials to Bollywood films. Ekta allegedly did not allow her to quit and extended the usual three-month notice period to five months for the young actress. Kapoor has also fought with Sanjay Dutt, ending a five-film contract with him. |
