With the news that Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy not making it to Oscar’s 2020 nominations list, fans were left disheartened. But today we are happy to announce that everything isn’t over yet, there is still hope and the film is not completely out of the race. Read on to know how and thank us later.

It was earlier this year when Gully Boy has announced India’s official entry to The Academy Awards. Yesterday the news that the film did not make it to the final selection of Best Foreign Language broke in. But turns out that this is not all.

According to the committee rules, any film that has a commercial release before December 31 and runs for 7 days with a duration for over 40 minutes is eligible.

Gully Boy fits in all the criteria and is on the list. Though the chances of getting through in this category are less, there is still hope and the film is very much in the race to the Oscars 2020.

The film directed by Zoya Akhtar is based on the life of underground rappers and follows their journey from rags to riches. The move touched the cord with the audience and went on to be loved by the audience and the critics as well.
