Kabuliwala has been made into a Bollywood film in the past (starring veteran actor Balraj Sahni), but this time it is being re-made for a contemporary TV audience. In the short film, TV actors Ronit Roy and Sakshi Tanwar play a couple whose daughter befriends an Afghani who has come to Mumbai. This short movie will be aired on Zoom sometime next year in March.
We spoke to Ronit Roy about the film
“It’s a short film based on the classic story of Kabuliwala and its our tribute to Rabindranath Tagore. It is the story of a couple whose daughter gets friendly with an unknown Afghani. It was great working on this topic, which is based on the contemporary terror attack which happened in our city in the recent times. I cannot give much details about the film.”
Further, he told us, “It was nice shooting with Sakshi Tanwar who is a fine actress and good human being also. I am sure the audience will like this short series.”
We also spoke with the producer Manasi Joshi-Roy who said, “This short film is our tribute to all martyrs of the terror attack which happened last year in Mumbai. Shahbaaz Khan plays the role of Kabuliwala while Ronit and Sakshi play the role of the couple who meets this man.”
