• This season was aired from February to April, 2010 in NDTV Imagine!. Nikunj Malik of Faridabad and Harpreet Chabra of New Delhi were the 2 other finalists.The prospective groom for Swayamvar Season 2 was reality TV personality and the son of Pramod Mahajan, Rahul Mahajan.

• The first season was hosted by Ram Kapoor.Dimpy Ganguly, the winner of the show, later, went on to become a contestant of Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout. She was eliminated in the first round of the show.
  
• Rahul Mahajan has gone on to appear in the hit reality show Comedy Circus. Both of them appeared in Bigg Boss 8 spin-off Halla Bol after separation to spice things up
• Nikunj Malik, one of the finalists, went on to become an actress and has appeared in many TV shows including Geet (TV series).
• Rahul Mahajan is the son of prominent politician, Pramod Mahajan, who came to fame, when his father was shot by his uncle. Rahul Mahajan has been married once before to Shweta Singh, but they were divorced in 2008..

• After the show, there had been reports that he had beaten his newly wedded wife Dimpy Mahajan. But, these proved to be false.
  
• The promo for season 4 titled Swayamvar Veena ka Vivahwer e out but the show never went on floor as the channel was shut down. Pakistani actress Veena Malik was signed up for her Swayamvar.
• "Rahul Dulhaniya le Jaaenge". Though the concept of the show will be similar to Rakhi ka Swayamvar, there will be certain changes incorporated based on what Rahul wants.
• Rahul who was part of Bigg Boss 2 is a divorcee who was earlier married to Shweta Singh, a pilot with Jet Airways. They parted ways after just 15 months of marriage

History:

• We recently saw the Swayamvar of the controversial queen Rakhi Sawant, wherein she got a match in NRI dude Elesh Parujanwala. Though the show Rakhi ka Swayamvar did not result in the much-awaited Swayamvar of Rakhi, the show did earn lot of recognition in terms of ratings, and was watched world wide.
• With the buzz getting stronger that Rakhi Sawant has called off her relationship with Elesh Parujanwala, all eyes are now on Rahul Mahajan, mainly because he has also been a guy with a dubious past.

Guess it should now be renamed as Swayamvadhu. With Rahul Mahajan on the search for the perfect bride its good news for all the girls who dreamt of having Rahul as their husband. Yes, it’s almost certain that Rahul will have a swayamvar (if you can call it that!).

The Bigg Boss 2 contestant will soon have a Swayamvar, where he will choose his life partner. The show that will air on NDTV imagine is expected to create the same magic as Rakhi’s Swayamvar.

A source informs, “The channel is selecting the perfect 16 brides who are willing to become Mrs Mahajan and will compete with each other to marry Rahul. The channel is also planning to unveil them to the media in the last week of September. The show produced by SOL is expected to come on air somewhere in mid December.”

The source continues, “Well this Swayamvar had been planned well in advance much around the same time when Rakhi’s swayamvar was planned. The channel wanted to have Mallika Sherawat in place of Rakhi Sawant, but could not afford her because she came with a heavy price tag. So they approached Rakhi and now that Rahul too is as famous as Rakhi he has been considered for Season 2. The production house had approached Rahul soon after they approached Rakhi. Rahul was in two minds about the show but after seeing the Rakhi Ka Swayamvar he agreed to be part of the show.”

Rahul who is a divorcee now was married to Shweta Singh, a pilot with Jet Airways in 2006. Sadly the marriage lasted only for 15 months as Shweta filed for divorce accusing Rahul of physical abuse and mental torture. Rahul was later linked to Payal Rohatgi who was also a contestant with him in Bigg Boss.

Well all we hope for this time is that the viewers do not feel cheated as they did when Rakhi only got engaged and now they do get to witness the big fat wedding!
