Akshay Kumar, born September 9, 1967, is an actor. He studied martial arts in Hong Kong. It was a student that suggested that he try modeling. Because of his success as model, he was offered films. Along with his good looks and excellent martial art s****s, he was always the first choice to do adventurous movies. He does his own stunts in his films. His breakthrough performance was in Saugandh (1991). He was well known for his Khiladi series, an Indian version of James Bond, such as Mr. Bond (1992), Khiladi (1992), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi (1997) and Khiladi 420 (2000). He dated strings of his co-stars including Raveena Tandon, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Pooja Batra and Rekha. His recent critically acclaimed performances include Airlift (2016), Baby (2015) and Rustom (2016).

- Was a martial arts teacher. One of his students suggested he model and he was soon offered films after his success as a model.
- Has a son with wife Twinkle Khanna named Araav born 15th September 2002. Became an uncle when sister-in-law Rinke Khanna gave birth to a baby girl on 19 October 2004.
- Won Best Villain award for Ajnabee (2001) as it was his first ever award since his career started in 1991.

Akshay agreed to the film, but asked Prakash Mehra to replace Sanjay Dutt. Akshay told Ptakash he would not be comfortable to work with Sanjay Dutt due to his problems during the making of Amaanat. Prakash Mehra decided to replace Akshay with Puru Raajkumar. Again he had to shelve the film because the second half of the film was the exact same as the Rishi Kapoor, Nana Patekar film Hum Dono. Prakash Mehra then decided to make a new film. He chose the subject of Bal Brahmachari and decided to launch Puru Raj Kumar in a solo hero film.

Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty were to play his sons. Music was by Anu Malik. Anil Kapoor refused "Agnikund" in 1994 because he did not want to play father to Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty. Feroz Khan had sold the audio , the overseas video and theatrical rights To Venus for 2.4 crores. Feroz Khan shelved the idea once again when the casting did not work. Feroz Khan shelved the idea once again. Some how the story of Agnikund leaked out and the film Sapoot was made in 1996. Feroz then started Prem Agga in 1995 with Akshaye Khanna and Mamta Kulkarni. He decided to shelve that project and start Janasheen with the same starcast . When Fardeen arrived in India, he told his father about his desire to join films. Feroz decided to shelve Janasheen and restarted Prem Aggan with Fardeen Khan and Meghna Kothari.
- He actually holds a Canadian citizenship and since India does not allow dual citizenship, he is now regarded as a Canadian actor.
- In author Shobha De's 1991 released fictional book "Starry Nights", the main characters name is "Akshay Kumar". The book was about an affair between a south Indian actress and a Punjabi superstar actor. This was done unintentionally as Shobha did not know who Akshay Kumar was in 1991.
