Actor Anupam Shyam passes away at 63 due to multiple organ failure



Veteran actor Anupam Shyam, who was playing role Thakur Sajjan Singh in the show Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2, passed away today. He was 63. He was hospitalised a few days ago for kidney related issues and was in the intensive care unit. He was out on a ventilator for the past couple of days.

Last year the actor was hospitalised after he developed serious kidney issues. His brother had even appealed for monetary help as they were struggling to pay the hospital bills.

After the actor recovered, he had to undergo dialysis on a regular basis. He got back to work when Mann Kee Awaaz season 2 was launched in 2021. Apparently he used to complete his shoot and then go for dialysis, thrice a week.

In an interview he had said that even though he was not keeping good health, he took up the role of Thakur Sajjan Singh in Pratigya 2 because people loved his character and he didn’t want to let his fans down in the second season.

He had said, “Zindagi ki jang ladh raha tha, wahan se aa gaye hain ab. Now with the show Pratigya I want to entertain the audience again.”

The actor who hails from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh started his career in 1993. He is an alumnus of Bhartendu Academy of Dramatic Arts in Lucknow. He has been a part of popular Bollywood movies like Dastak, Dil Se…, Lagaan, Golmaal, and Munna Michael.
