• Singing reality show ‘Super Singer’, which entertained the Bengali audience with its first season, is set to have a second inning soon. The last season concluded its journey in October 2020, declaring Contestant Sanchari Sengupta as the winner. She also won the Popular Choice award. • Popular actor Jisshu U Sengupta hosted the reality show. ‘Super Singer’ initially welcomed Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kumar Sanu and Jeet Ganguly as the judges. History of the TV Channel:

• Star Jalsha was officially launched on 8 September 2008.
• In 2011 it was launched on Pehla platform in Middle East.
• In June 2012, it underwent a revamp with a new diamond star logo.On 22 November 2012, the channel was launched in UK.
• The channel launched its own high-definition feed, along with Jalsha Movies HD, on 29 April 2016. They were the first Bengali-language HD channels in India.
• In 2018, Sagnik Ghosh became the head of the channel.
• In February 2019, the channel underwent a revamp for the second time with a fresh identity and logo.

Season 1 winner:

• Super Singer winner: Contestant Sanchari Sengupta bags the title of Season 1 of Super Singer.

• The wait is over. Singing reality show ‘Super Singer’, hosted by Jisshu U Sengupta, has found its winner. Contestant Sanchari Sengupta won the title after giving a tough fight to the other finalists. She also won the Popular Choice award. Mayuri Saha won the second place while Deepmala Haldar bagged the third prize.
  
• Sanchari was awarded with a cash prize, trophy, paid trip and other prizes. She had already bagged singing contract offered by leading companies. Sanchari turned emotional while receiving the trophy. Judges Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Shaan, Lopamudra Mitra and Rupankar Bagchi praised all the contestants for their consistent performance and growth in this journey. Initially, 5 contestants were supposed to be in the finale. However, in the Semi Finale episode, the judges left everyone surprised by allowing all 6 performers in the final.
  The ‘Super Finale’ was star studded gala. It witnessed many spectacular performances. Jisshu’s witty punches entertained the audience. Shaan, Lopamudra, Abhijeet, Rupankar and special guest judge Kumar Sanu made the evening melodious with their performances. Singer Sonu Nigam, Sukhwinder Singh, Kumar Sanu took the audiences on a musical journey.
• Anupam Roy, Shilajit’s spectacular performance made the atmosphere magical. The ‘Super Finale’ also welcomed Dev, Koel Mullick, Prosenjit Chatterjee. Bumba Da set the stage on fire with his performance on Kumar Sanu’s song.
  
• With this the musical journey of ‘Super Singer’ came to an end. The show became quite popular within a short time, thanks to the talented contestants and their performances.
