1st Epi – Pinjara Khubsurti Ka 24th August 2020 Written Episode Update: Mayura’s beauty – A blessing or a curse?

Scene 1
The episode starts with the mandir and a family praying there with a girl smiling. The girl says we are here to get a blessing for my sister that is going to be born soon. The father says that I pray for the baby’s health. His mother beside him says that if it’s a boy then there is nothing to worry but if it’s a girl then she has to be pretty, we don’t want a black girl as we have right now. Savita suddenly feels contractions and they have to lie her down. All women cover her and have to deliver the girl in the mandir only. The father is tensed but then hears the cries of the baby. They all smile. The grandmother says she is so pretty and white, she is my Mayura. Her sister says she is so beautiful.

In the house, the grandmother is looking after the preparations of welcoming the baby. All are enjoying the gathering. A guest says the grandmother is very happy, another guest says she is a pretty girl, she will become trouble in this neighborhood. The grandmother is playing with small Mayura and tells Savita that you will have to give dowry for Megha (her elder sister) but people will give dowry to get Mayura. Savita sadly looks on and tells her husband that Megha will become insecure in life like this and Mayura will have to be in troubles, it’s already difficult to be a girl in this world but being beautiful can be a curse too, her beauty might become a Pinjara (cage) for her.

22 years later
Mayura is in the market and buys some birds. The seller says you buy them to free them, I cage them but you free them again. Mayura says they are pretty in the cage but not happy. She frees them and says if you are happy then you always look pretty. She starts leaving from there where guys are ogling at her. Some women taunt her that she flaunts her beauty so boys will go crazy.

Mayura gets her grandmother’s call and tells her that she is not standing under sunlight so don’t worry.

Scene 2
Mayura comes to her classroom and tries to find her report. A guy gives it to her and smiles. Mayura is shocked and comes to the professor. She says I didn’t attempt the last question but I got 100 out of 100. The professor says because of beauty.. I mean because of your writing. He comes closer and says you smell so nice.. He tries to touch her inappropriately. She says give me your wife’s number and I will tell her name of the soap, she runs from there. Mayura stands in the corner and cries. Some girls see her and taunt her that she goes to professor’s room and gets her grades, she will earn money like this too.

Mayura comes home and thinks that I can’t worry my family. She tries to apply a cream and sees I love you Mayura written on the car. She wipes it and tries to smile. She goes in the house and says I am here. The grandmother sees cream with her and smiles. Savita comes there and asks her to not shake her feet, she asks how was her grade? Mayura says I want tea. Savita brings it. Her grandmother comes there and does her aarti. Mayura is watching the TV. Her grandmother says do I look like a fool to you? Did you apply sunscreen just now? You have beauty but your father doesn’t have so much money that he can get a dowry for both of you. You just don’t care, you have to be pretty in the eyes of important people. Her father comes there and asks what happened? The grandmother says she doesn’t care about her complexion, Megha is doing everything to become pretty but she doesn’t listen. Mayura says stop! I don’t want to be pretty, if I was not pretty then would you have thrown me away? Do I have to be your pretty daughter? Can’t I be just your daughter? All look on.

Mayura sits with her family. Her father says I know you face troubles daily because of your beauty but I can’t. I would have accepted you in any form, you have to face all this harassing but I am proud of you never using your beauty to your advantage. We don’t choose our beauty, we get it from God so you got this beauty and a worrying grandmother. Mayura smiles and says Megha is very nice, why Dadi says such things to her? The phone rings to Mayura goes to take it.

Mayura comes to take the call but sees Megha taking the call. Megha tells on that uncle you can say no that marriage proposal. She ends the call and says they keep dragging me like a burden. Mayura says they are just getting a proposal for you. Megha says I won’t get any proposal when you are here. Mayura says I am sorry I didn’t mean to hurt you. Megha says enough, you are not that innocent, I come from court every day to hear that I can’t get married. All come there. Mayura says you are my best sister. Megha says then find a marriage proposal for me, why uncle keeps trying to find a guy for me and can’t? She shows her safe box to Mayura and says this safe has a cap of coldrinks that guys drank when came to meet for the wedding but what was their answer? Sorry, we like Mayura more than me. I won’t get married. Dadi says she doesn’t have a pretty face and long tongue too. Megha says you know what’s the difference between me and Mayura? The same difference between you and my mom. Mayura got mom’s beauty while I got your ugliness. Dadi is hurt to hear that. Megha says I am trying now, she shows her the creams and says I am trying a lot. All sadly looks on. Megha says I couldn’t become pretty like Mayura. Mayura says I had a bad day too. Megha says I had bad days every day, it’s so difficult to be a sister of a pretty girl. Mayura says you think being pretty is easy but it’s not. Megha says it’s easy to say that when you have that beauty, God gives these troubles to everyone I pray. She leaves from there.

Mayura comes to the mandir and cries. She says my sister is hurt because of me. My parents worry for me, I don’t want to be pretty, take it back but please free me from this pain. My father has to bear comments because of harassment. Will there be anyone who will see me for me and not because of my beauty? Who will free me from this Pinjara (cage)? On the other side of the mandir Omkar comes out of the river and Mayura sees him.

PRECAP – The priest tells Omkar that your fate lines show that you will get a pretty wife but not her love. Omkar draws a line with stone on his hand. He tells the priest that I trust my stubbornness, my fate wanted me to be labor but my stubbornness made me a marble merchant. Now fate says that I will not get the love of my pretty wife but stubbornness says that I will earn her love. Later Mayura and Omkar meet.

Jaya, who has already started shooting for the show, will be seen playing Omkar’s (Saahil Uppal) mother, Manjari in the show.

Witnessing quite some change in its programming now, Colors channel went on to present its latest offering yesterday in the form of Pinjara Khoobsuti Ka. You can read the review of the show here.

The show, as we know encircles around a girl who is conventionally beautiful but faces her own set of problems of dealing with the societal approach that comes with it.

The show, apart from Riya Sharma and Sahil Uppal also stars actor Gautam Viig in an important role and that is yet to be introduced. In a rencetly interview with IWMbuzz, Viig opened up on his character where he said, “When I was offered the role, I was excited to take up the role of Piyush as it has a lot of similarities with my real-life personality. I am a very happy go lucky guy in real life too. I wanted to associate again with Colors TV after my previous show so I gave a nod to the show. I liked my character graph as he has a very different relationship with his brother, Mayura, and with his family. I won’t say it is a complex character but it definitely has a lot of shades.”

Further, when he was asked as to if he has ever come across someone who has faced any similar issue, he said, “I think it is a very sensitive topic. I am originally from Delhi and these things used to happen a lot earlier. I have seen and witnessed it so when I heard the concept of the show I felt that it is very relatable. However, this topic is not told on TV and I think people will love it. We are hoping for the best.”

My character Vishakha is someone who has gone through a lot of trials in her life and has overcome them. She has achieved a position of power now and wants to help women who are struggling to get back on their feet. She wants to empower them and for that she has opened an NGO. Her path crosses with Mayura’s and she decides to help Mayura and give her a chance to fight back. This is a very interesting twist in the story, and I am sure that the viewers will love to see how it unfolds.”

Mayura has come a long way in her life and faced several challenges as she found her true strength. Omkar, too, has learned his lessons and has evolved when it comes to his obsession with beauty. His attitude towards Mayura, too, has changed and now he sees her in a different light.

Zindagi Ki Mehek actor Karan Vohra joins the cast of Pinjara Khubsurti Ka

Karan Vohra, who became a household name with his stint as the male lead in Zindagi Ki Mehek, is all set to join the cast of Saurabh Tewari’s Pinjara Khubsurti Ka. The show stars Riya Sharma and Saahil Uppal in the lead roles. Karan will play the parallel lead and will be paired opposite Riya. The actor commenced shooting from today and his entry is slated to air next week. The unit of the show is shooting at a resort near Delhi.

While Karan remained unavailable for comment, a source associated with the show told us, “We are introducing a twist in the storyline for which we required to rope in a new actor. It is a cameo and Karan fits the bill perfectly. He will play Mayura’s love interest and will be seen as a rich, South Delhi lad. His entry will result in insecurity and complications in Mayura and her husband Omkar’s (Saahil) lives. We are shooting his introduction scene today.”

On the personal front, Karan, who hails from Delhi, has been doing his bit during the pandemic. As reported by us, during the lockdown last year, the actor had started a fundraiser campaign in association with a crowd-funding platform to support a Delhi-based NGO for animals. At that time, he had told us, “The pandemic has affected all of us in one way or the other. I feel that during these difficult times, we should also take care of stray animals. They have no one to feed them. I can’t imagine what they must be going through presently. I am just making a small effort from my end by associating with a crowd-funding platform. I urge everyone to come forward and make some contribution so that these poor creatures don’t suffer on streets.”

The actor also appealed to his fans on social media to come forward and support the campaign.

Actor Alan Kapoor, who was last seen in Pyaar Ki Luka Chuppi, which ended in September last year, is all set to join the cast of Saurabh Tewari’s Pinjara Khubsurti Ka. The show features Riya Sharma and Saahil Uppal as the lead couple. As reported by us earlier, the show went in for a time leap of 22 years, paving way for a reincarnation track. We had also reported that Madhuri Sanjeev and Sanjay Swaraj would play Saahil’s mother and Riya’s father respectively. We have now learnt that Alan has been signed to play the antagonist on the show. He has already commenced the shoot.

The actor tells us, “I play Ishaan, a rich spoilt brat. He studies in the same college as Mayura (Riya). He is strong-headed and always does what he wants to without thinking twice.”

Alan is excited about playing a negative character on the small screen. He admits that he was a bit apprehensive in the beginning, but decided to take it up as a challenge. “I have always played positive parts and this is the first time that I am playing a quintessential negative character. Before this, I had played a criminal in a three-episode story in a show. When this offer came my way, I wasn’t sure about taking it up. But I also wanted to explore more shades as an artiste. So, I asked my followers on social media and encouraged by the response I got from them, I accepted this part,” he shares.

Alan is returning to TV after nine months. He went back to his hometown, Agra, after Pyaar Ki Luka Chuppi wrapped up. He says, “After spending quality time with my parents, I shot for a film, which has a Punjabi backdrop. It also features Rajpal Yadav and Hemant Pandey. It is a comedy with a social message. I was also busy travelling and exploring new places, something that I am very passionate about.”
