Indian Idol 12: Team starts shooting for final round of auditions

Indian Idol 12 is likely to go on-air by the end of this month and the team has kickstarted Day 1 of their shoot today, in Mumbai's Film City.



Indian Idol 12 will see the trio of Himesh Reshammiya, Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar return to the chair as the judges of the show. They have now kickstarted the final round of auditons for the show in Film City and in fact, some also shared glimpses of the first day shoot. Vishal Dadlani took to social media as he informed fans about 'Day 1' of their shoot while Neha too, shared some photos on her Instagram story as she expressed her excitement regarding the show.

Meanwhile, given the COVID-19 situation, extra precautions are being taken on the sets and everyone has undergone coronavrus tests before entering the sets while following social distancing and fewer crew members. As has been reported by Indianexpress, the final round of auditions has a lot of contestants and it was necessary to quarantine and test them before kickstarting the show. They were flown to the city and were placed under self-quarantine.

Meanwhile, Aditya Narayan will turn host for Indian Idol 12 once again, and after the digital rounds of auditions, the on-set auditions have now finally begun. The show is likely to go on-air sometime later this month and fans are excited to see what's in store for them this season!

Danish gave a roaring and soul touching performance on the songs Deva Shree Ganesha and Ishaqbaazi. His performance made everyone on the set give chills as his performance took everyone into a soothing zone.

Danish also mentioned in the initial stage of singing career he used to sing in jagrans. His performance touched Atul’s heart that he gifted him a chain which had Ganpati Bappa’s locket. Atul said:

Neha Kakkar also get very emotional while watching Danish performance and said:

"I am a believer of God and I think whatever I have achieved in my life, I have a lot to thank God for it. Your performance mesmerized me, and I was in totally different zone. Keep it up and keep shining.”

Post receiving the gesture, the talented singer Danish said,

“I am very fortunate to receive this special gesture from such an ace music director. This is like a blessing I have received from sir and from this moment I have a lot more to achieve in my life. Deva Shree Ganesh used to be my first song when I started singing in jagrata and post this song the energy of the crowd and mine and automatically double.”

Anu Malik on returning to 'Indian Idol 12' but as a guest - It will be homecoming for him as he will be coming on as a guest along with Udit Narayan and Sameer.


Music composer and singer Anu Malik has been a name that has been synonymous with Indian Idol over the years. Many other judges have come in and went away but Malik has always been a constant for the show. However, owing to a few MeToo allegations and a few female singers calling out the show for continuing to have Malik on board as a judge, a decision was taken. The decision had Malik having to quit Indian Idol 11 midway and not returning for the 12th season.

But now it will be homecoming for him as he will be coming on as a guest along with Udit Narayan and Sameer. Talking about it with ETimes TV, he said,

"I have been a part of the show for so many years, so it felt like homecoming when I was invited for the 90s special episode. I feel the talent this season is the best of all seasons and they sang all my popular songs. I had a great time being a part of the show I used to judge." When asked if he misses judging the show and hopes to return someday, he said, "I don't think of the future. The makers gave me an opportunity to judge the show for many seasons, but as of now I am happy being a guest."

While the allegations put on him are yet to find a conclusion, Malik is still and won't soon be a part of the reality show regularly.

Indian Idol 12: Contestant Ashish gets AR Rahman's signature on Taal's Music Cassette



After Bollywood megastar Rekha, Indian Idol 12 is all set to air its episode featuring music maestro A R Rahman. He is going to appear as a guest on the show. The judges along with the contestants and host Rithvik Dhanjani will spend quality time with the Oscar winner. In the show (which has already been shot), Ashish gave an outstanding performance on the songs Saathiya, Humma - Humma and Satrangi Re. He got a huge round of applause from the dignitaries present on the sets.

While praising him, AR Rahman said,

"You are a born talent and a great performer with superior voice tone." Himesh Reshammiya added, "After this performance, Ashish, I must say that you are a sure shot finalist. Because, the sort of songs which you have sung are difficult."

Indian Idol 12's Pawandeep tests positive for COVID-19; other contestants also undergo the test



Indian Idol 12's popular contestant Pawandeep Rajan will be performing through a video call for legends Kalyan ji- Anand ji's special week. The contestant has tested positive for COVID-19 after he showed mild symptoms. As a precautionary measure, he has been quarantined and will perform this week virtually.
A source informed ETimes TV that other contestants have also undergone the test. "Though none of the contestants are showing any symptoms, they too have undergone the test as a precautionary measure and to keep a safe environment on the set and break the chain."

Speaking about Pawandeep, the source further added, "After he showed a few symptoms, he was immediately quarantined and underwent the COVID test, which turned out to be positive. This week, he will give his performance through a video call."
Here's a glimpse of Pawandeep performing through a video call: Prior to Pawandeep, Indian Idol's host Aditya Narayan also tested positive and is under isolation. Actor-host Rithvik Dhanjani is filling in the space until Aditya recovers.

Dance Deewane 3, Anupamaa and a few other shows have also been affected by the second wave of the coronavirus.

On the other hand, production houses have decided to obey the weekend lockdown rule imposed by the government. They will only shoot five days a week with restricted man power and a few changes in order to curb the situation.

Indian Idol 12's popular contestant Pawandeep Rajan also tested positive for COVID-19 after showing mild symptoms. As a precautionary measure, he was quarantined and resumed after testing negative. Recently, he also celebrated his birthday on a video call with his family.

Ashish then requested the music maestro to sign ‘Taal’ film’s cassette, which the contestant’s father had gifted him.



Anu Malik joins as a judge


The upcoming episode will also see a change in judges’ panel as Himesh Reshammiya, Neha Kakkar and Vishal Dadlani will be missing and replacing them will be music director Anu Malik and lyricist Manoj Muntashir. Anu Malik, who was part of the show in the previous seasons and was dropped due to the #MeToo charges, will be returning to the show. The reality show Indian Idol 12 has moved to Daman and the shooting of the recent episode took place there.



Making a smashing entry in Top 5 shows


In the second week of April, the show made a smashing entry and acquired the third spot. The episode that was most watched, had veteran musicians Kalyan-Anand grace the stage and singer Pawandeep, who was quarantine due to being affected by the coronavirus, performed virtually.

Indian Idol 12: Judge Manoj Muntashir 'apologizes' for saying Shammi Kapoor never married after first wife Geeta Bali's death; regrets the 'factual error'




Lyricist and screenwriter Manoj Muntashir has joined Indian Idol 12 as a new judge along with Anu Malik. While he is gaining praise for sharing his tales related to several celebrated actors and shows, he admitted to committing an error while talking about late actor Shammi Kapoor.
In the recent episode of Indian Idol, Manoj shared an incident wherein he revealed how Shammi finally managed to convince Geeta Bali to get married to him while they were shooting at night for a film. This came after days of persuading her. Manoj said Geeta agreed but on one condition. She asked him to marry her the same night.

As the tale goes, Shammi arranged for everything but forgot to bring the vermillion mark. However, he managed to use Geeta's red lipstick which was kept in her bag in place of sindoor. Unfortunately, they were just married for 10 years until she died in 1965.
After talking about the anecdote, Manoj mentioned that Shammi never got married to anyone. But the reality is different. The legendary actor tied the knot with Neila Devi Gohil, who belonged to the royal family, in 1969 which was four years after Geeta’s death. They remained married for 42 years until she died in 2011.

Exclusive! Neha Kakkar and Himesh Reshammiya resume shooting for Indian Idol 12

• Indian Idol team relocated to Daman two weeks ago, due to the restrictions in Maharashtra.
  
• However, the judges Neha Kakkar, Himesh Reshammiya and Vishal Dadlani have been missing in action and lyricist Manoj Muntashir and Anu Malik stepped in to judge a few episodes.
  
• There was speculation about Neha, Vishal and Himesh not returning to the show until they resume shoot in Mumbai. But we have got to know that Neha and Himesh travelled to Daman on April 29, shot for two days and returned back to Mumbai.

A source said, "While Vishal will not be travelling to Daman, Neha and Himesh are back on the show. They travelled from Mumbai to Daman for the shoot. It's good to have the judges back because their absence was being felt."

Aditya Narayan, host of Indian Idol 12, recovered from coronavirus a few days ago and resumed work soon after. He is back to hosting the show. Rithvik Dhanjani and Jay Bhanushali had stepped in for him when he was recuperating at home. The episode that aired last weekend saw contestants Pawandeep Rajan and Ashish Kulkarni also return to the stage. They too had tested positive for COVID-19. Neha had gone missing from the previous episodes because was celebrating her six-month anniversary and had taken a break from work to spend time with husband Rohanpreet Singh. The team will be filming in Daman for a couple of more episodes, till shooting is permitted in Mumbai. During those days to get time from such a big Legend was a blessing and thankfully I received that time from him. On the day of recording, I had called him to remind him about the same. Later when I was walking past his house in Juhu I found a lot of people gathered which shocked me and I walked home. I informed my wife I think that the legendary Kishore Kumar Ji is no more with us."

The music reality show, Indian Idol 12 is nearing its finale and the makers have decided there will be no elimination rounds for a few weeks. The makers have also announced a powerplay round, in which the contestants getting highest votes will automatically get an entry to perform in the finale rounds.

Aditya Narayan, anchor and host of the show, said,

"It’s not the first season when the makers have decided to have no eliminations. There will be no eliminations for a few weeks. It’s a collective call that the entire team, production and channel has taken as our show has been on air since 25 weeks, and it has connected with viewers."

He added, "As a music lover, I wouldn’t mind listening to the exceptionally talented contestants week after week. And the viewers who have enjoyed watching the show would also like to see the talented contestants perform. They are truly superb and hard working. So, essentially, there won't be any eliminations and votes from all weeks will be counted cumulatively and then the eliminations will happen. We are just a few more weeks away from the finale now."

Singer Kumar Sanu will be seen as a guest along with Roop Kumar Rathod and Anuradha Paudwal in the upcoming weekend episode. Kumar Sanu said in a video released by the makers, "The nine contestants are like diamonds and they have entertained viewers for so many weeks. I would like to reiterate that I have not been put under any pressure to speak good about them. We all know that the talent in this season is exceptional."

Indian Idol 12: Aditya Narayan asks guest Kumar Sanu if he was forced by the makers to praise the contestants after Amit Kumar's controversial statement


Post Amit Kumar's controversial statements about being forced to praise the contestants on Indian Idol 12 by the makers, host Aditya Narayan in the upcoming episode will cheekily seek reply from guest Kumar Sanu about the genuineness of his opinion about the contestants.

In the new teaser of the show, Aditya Narayan asked Kumar Sanu after the show was over, "Sir, you have praised the contestants on the show today. I want to ask if you have done it from your heart or someone from our team asked you to."

This led the audience to clap and cheer for his bold question. Kumar Sanu replied that he liked all the contestants and said that all 9 of them are diamonds. He called them talented and applauded the wealth of experience they already have. He added that whatever judgment and praise he had showered was genuine.

To this judge, Himesh Reshammiya said, "Pandemic ne bahut kuch seekha diya hai. Pyaar karo, pyaar banto, appreciate karo, logon ki honsla afzai karo, logon ko aage leke jao yaar. Jai Mata Di. The whole controversy around the talent of the contestants and the fake adulation showered by the judges started after Amit Kumar appeared for an episode dedicated to Kishore Kumar. In an explosive interview to ETimes TV, Amit slammed the makers for forcing him to praise all the contestants and said that he did not enjoy the episode at all.

He had said, "I did what I was told. I was told sabko praise karna hai. I was told jo jaisa bhi gaaye usko uplift karna hai because it's a tribute to Kishore da. I thought it will be a homage to my father. But once there, I just followed what I was asked to do. I had told them to give me portions of the script in advance, but nothing of that sort happened."

Indian Idol 12 winner: Uttarakhand’s Pawandeep Rajan lifts the trophy; wins a car and Rs 25 lakh cash prize



The reality singing show Indian Idol 12, which premiered in November 2020, has finally come to an end with Uttarakhand boy Pawandeep Rajan lifting the winner’s trophy. Pawandeep had won hearts soon as show premiered and fans already saw a winner in him.

Today (August 15), Indian Idol conducted the greatest grand finale that ran for 12 hours – 12pm to 12 am. After a 12-hour long grand finale, with top 6 finalists – Sayli Kamble, Arunita Kanjilal, Nihal Tauro, Pawandeep Rajan, Danish Mohd and Shanmukha Priya – the winner was finally announced.

Apart from lifting the trophy, Pawandeep also won a car and Rs. 25 lakh cash prize. Previously, in an interview with ETimes TV, Pawandeep shared, “I am sad that the show is coming to an end and I will have to leave my friends and go. I am also happy and excited that I have made it to the finale and finally the moment has arrived which we all have been waiting for. All the singers who participated this time were talented and superb. After two days everyone is going to be at their own houses. We have been two together for 10 months now and after August 15, we won’t get to live together again like this.”

The finale night saw a host of celebrities including Alka Yagnik, Kiara Alia Advani and Sidharth Malhotra. Season 1: Abhijeet Sawant


Abhijeet Sawant, who is one of the most well-known faces to have gained popularity coming out as the winner of a reality show, was the winner of Indian Idol season 1. Season 3: Prashant Tawang


A Kolkata police constable, Prashant Tawang became the winner of Indian Idol 3 in 2007. From what is known about him from the Indian Idol stage, he auditioned for the reality show after his colleagues and friends encouraged him. He rose to fame in the hills of Darjeeling, West Bengal, Sikkim and Kolkata and huge masses of people voted for him and made him win the show title. After his Indian Idol journey, Prashant has sung various Hindi and Nepali songs.



Season 4: Sourabhee Debbarma


Indian Idol 4 winner Sourabhee Debbarma is the first and only female winner of the series. The Tripura girl holds the Guinness World record for singing a song upside down. She sang for 4 minutes and 30 seconds, breaking the record of New Zealand's Rebecca Wright. Sourabhee is a singer, performer who has performed across the world in several live concerts. Season 5: Sreeram Chandra


Sreeram Chandra, who debuted as a playback singer in the Telugu film industry, won the 5th season of Indian Idol. He has given voice to several popular Hindi, Telugu and Kannada songs. He has various accolades in his name for some of his most phenomenal performances. Sreeram is not just a singer but an actor, too. He made his acting debut with the film Sri Jagadguru Aadi Sankara.
