Skin tags, also known as acrochordons, often occur in the elderly but young people get them too. They appear as small growths on the surface of the skin, usually around the neck, under the breasts, over the eyelids, under the armpits or the groin folds. Although they are mostly harmless and painless, they are unwanted as they look ugly and may be bothersome if they catch on clothing. There are effective cosmetic procedures to get rid of these skin outgrowths once and for all, but they will pinch your pocket too. As always, homes remedies come to your rescue. Some simple ingredients found in your kitchen can work wonders to get rid of those ugly skin tags easily. These natural remedies may take a little longer than the chemical procedures, but they are safer and cost-effective.
Baking Soda and castor oil: Both baking soda and castor oil can alter the skin's pH and help remove skin outgrowths like skin tags and even warts. Mix a few drops little castor oil with 1/2 teaspoon baking soda to form a sticky paste. Apply this paste on the skin tag and leave it for 1-2 hours. Do this daily for 2-4 weeks, and you will notice the skin tag disappearing slowly.
Ginger: The bioactive compounds in ginger contains possess healing and antimicrobial properties that are effective in removing skin tags. Rub a slice of raw ginger on the skin tag for a minute or two. Let the juice of the ginger stay onto your skin. Repeat this 5-6 times a day.
Garlic: Garlic has antibacterial and antifungal properties, which will help remove the skin tag. Crush 1-2 fresh garlic cloves to make a paste. Apply the paste on the skin tag and wash it off after an hour. Repeat twice a day.
Banana Peel: Banana peels are traditionally used in removing warts as they contain enzymes and acids. The same chemicals can also help to shed your skin tags. Cut a small portion of a banana peel and place the fibrous part (white side) on the skin tag for an hour. Do this for a few days until the skin tag falls off.
Apple Cider Vinegar: The acidity of the vinegar will slowly cut the skin tag off. Pour a few drops of apple cider vinegar onto a small piece of cotton and strap it to the skin tag. Use a duct tape or scotch tape to hold the cotton in place. Keep it on for a few hours. Do this twice a day.
