The show is inspired from the famous humorous column 'Duniya Ne Undha Chasma' written by the eminent Gujarati writer Mr. Tarak Mehta. This story evolves around happenings in "Gokuldham Co-operative Society" and covers topical issues which are socially relevant. The show predominantly revolves around 'Jethalaal' (Dilip Joshi) who is an uneducated Gujarati businessman. Your 'Taarak Mehta' (Sailesh Lodha), is his neighbour. 'Jethalaal' finds a friend and philosopher in 'Taarak Mehta' and often goes to him for advice whenever he is in trouble.

Jethalaal's family includes his simpleton wife 'Daya Ben' (Disha Wakani) and a mischievous son 'Tapu' (Raj Anadkat). Tapu is a menace and a constant source of trouble to all the members of Gokuldham. They have often warned 'Jethalaal' to reform 'Tapu' or else be prepared to leave the premises. Lost hopes of being heard by his son pushes Jethalaal' to call his father 'Champaklal' (Amit Bhatt) from the village. This was his great idea of leashing some control over the mischievous Tapu. The opposite happens and the grandfather joins hands with the grandson to make life a roller coaster troublesome ride for Jethalaal.

• First of all, the comedy content is somewhere lost in the show.. And all credit goes to madam Daya ( daya Karo ab Tum) and Tapu Sena.. Don't know why Asit Modi is so relying on silly Daya when there are so many talented characters in the show such as Bhide, Sodhi Baha'i, Iyer, popatlal and of course jetha with Babuji.. There has been a huge transformation in the show, earlier the content used to be a hilarious ride along with a social message.. And every story was linked to the other one.. However now they keep on annoying us with Daya and her irritating voice with weird faces.. I hate her.. They should stop dragging the show in order to make record of episodes and should start writing some good comedy episodes.. Even the direction has gone poor.. Earlier it used to be a stress buster but now the show has started giving us stress and irritation.. Please do something about it otherwise please wind up the show.. Humble request..
• Seriously, I used to be a genuine viewer of the show but now it is really getting worse to worst. The show was one of the best mood lifting series on television.and now the writers of the show have not left with any of the ideas regarding the story line. They are repeatedly showing us meaning episodes that is of without any story. I think the producer should do introspection regarding the serial or else should stop making the count of episodes. Which are completely going meaningless. Please give some story or leave the time slot so that some other show can take the place. We have tolerated a lot of meaningless episodes now, without the interesting story.
• TMKOC writers really need to be changed as soon as possible or the show is going to lose its popularity very soon which is already on a downfall. The show doesn't have any content and any viewer can easily tell they are just extending a story unnecessarily. Aaisa hi chalta raha then 2020 se pehle bandh ho jayega show..!!
• Loved tmkoc till 2015 or 2016 mid. They have started slacking on content and are showing atleast 5 episodes on one topic. Getting trp and making money is always important but not when you start losing viewership. Lost atleast 4 viewers with me.
• I don't like *Overacting* done by daya. She do lot of overacting & this makes the entire episode boring & senseless. Moreover, in present the comedy is totally zero. Asit modi & entire crew is stretching the episode for eg. Sakharam Ka Accident By tapu sena. This episode was completed in 1 week. Seriously, tere was no such comedy. It seems Asit Modi nowadays is focusing on increasing the number of episodes instead of providing entertainment & humor to audience through this Serial. Daya didn't know acting & in what she does in OVERACTING......I don't like this serial much more....Moreover, Iyer babita & Tarak mehta & anjali don't have any children even Tapu Sena joined college...Senseless Serial

• Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah is an excellent show...A complete entertainer. All the characters starting from Jethalal to part time actors like inspector Pandey are simply superb. I love to watch the show again and again everyday. I make it a point not to miss a single episode of the serial. waiting anxiously for the program to complete 1000 episodes. Alongwith complete laugh riot, the serial presents lots of useful social messages...Every character plays their role to perfection. Jethalal is superb, and Daya Bhabhi is excellent. Mehta saheb, anjali bhabhi, Bhide, Mrs Bhide, Mrs and Mr Hathi, Mrs and Mr Roshan, Rita, Iyer, Babita, Popatlal, Abdul, Sunder, Natu Kaka, Bagha, Tapu Sena...all are just fabulous.
• I don't understand Hindi much, but this serial WAS amazing. Story, Action and everything WAS amazing (till 2013/or 2014). I did not see this kind of clean comedy anywhere. English Sitcoms are also amazing, but they are mostly based on Adult content.Since one year, the quality has been degrading, very much.
• If they don't improve it, the viewer-ship will RAPIDLY be going down. And coming to Male or Female domination, we should think this is just for fun. There are Female dominated/oriented families (Ayyar and Babitha, Madhavi and Bhide), so we can not point out this. Overall, this was amazing and hilarious serial. But now, everything is very very boring. Direction, Story, Action, Settings, and even the camera as well.
• Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah is an excellent show. I really love this show. The show is based on the happenings of a society named Gokuldham. I love to watch the show again and again everyday. Every character plays their role to perfection. Jethalal is superb, and Daya Bhabhi is excellent. Mr. Mehta , Anjali Bhabhi, Mr.and Mrs. Bhide, Mr. and Mrs. Hathi, Mr and Mrs Roshan, Rita, Iyer, Babita, Popatlal, Abdul, Sunder, Natu Kaka, Bagha, Tapu Sena...all are just fabulous. The society members are from different Indian cultures & communities and still they live together in peace and harmony. They celebrate festivals with each other. This show is Fantastic.
• Dear Tarek Mehta respected team, I love to watch your serial I without miss single episode n wanna Tel as request only this that please maintain your serial standard which consider one of best. Sometimes it's more to b torched instead of comedy. After finish every episode, Mehta sahib come n say always laugh can I know how to laugh sir without real comedy. Respected friends this serial famous because entire family can see but some time n can say now every time getting feeling of dragging episodes.

Sab TV’s most popular and longest-running comedy family drama, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is best known for the quirky and funny characters of the show residing in Gokuldham Society. The shows revolve around the residents of the society and how they put themselves in weird situations. One such character is Popatlal. Speaking about the relationship a celebrity shares with his fans, the ongoing lockdown is giving the viewers a chance to know their favorite celebs better. JD Majethia opens up on whether TV shows shoot will resume post Lockdown 3.0
With the on going global pandemic, almost everyone's life has come to a halt. The healthcare workers and the police force are working day in and out to help the citizens of our country. The pandemic has taken a toll on the economy of the country and just like other industries, our entertainment industry is also suffering. With the stop in shoots, the channels are relying on the reruns to entertain the fans amidst the lockdown. Amid the lockdown 3.0, several parts of the country are getting certain relaxations with the restrictions. Talking about the restart of shoots, Indian Film and TV Producers Council (IFTPC) chairman, TV and web wing, JD Majethia got into a conversation with Pinkvilla where he revealed that he is taking regular notes about the situation.

Jd Majethia said, "Mumbai being in the red zone, we will await the decision of the Maharashtra government. We are regularly taking notes of the situation and keep preparing ourselves on how to go about it, keeping the required parameters of health and safety of all concerned in mind. Amidst the heartbreaking, gloomy, pessimistic, depressing atmosphere around especially for our industry due to a few untimely deaths, we want to be practical yet bring back the smile. We want to be hopeful, courageous, and optimistic for our entire industry and the audiences. We, as an industry will do everything possible to stand in support with the government and start the shooting at the earliest post lockdown 3.0." He further mentioned that the chances of resuming the shoots will depend on what is the progress and situation where the lockdown is lifted and also the situation in Mumbai from a few days from now. Palak Sidhwani who essays the role of Sonu in Sab TV's show Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah reveals that her father was unaware of her passion for acting and asked her if she bagged a job at the show's office. Speaking to , Palak recalled her family's reaction on bagging Sonu's role in the show. Palak mentioned that she got a call from the show's casting director after almost a wait for about 3-4 months where he asked her to reach his office immediately. She recalled reaching his office with her parents. She said, "Myself, my mother, father and brother were seated at the conference when he broke the news that I’m finalised. The casting director said, I will go and get the contract ready and as he left the conference room, my father turned towards me and asked me if I have bagged a job at their office as he was unaware about my passion for acting."

She further added, "All three of us smiled at his question and explained to him that I’ll be seen in the show as Sonu Bhide. My father was a bit shocked and deep within though that probably it is some sort of a prank or it wont materialise. Sab TV's popular show Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah has enthralled the viewers over the years with its rib tickling jokes and social messages. Each and every character from the show has become a household name and Raj Anadkat who essays the role of Tapu opens up on replacing Bhavya Gandhi in the show.

Speaking to Spotboye.com, Raj revealed that he got a mixed response from the audience initially. He said that there were people liking him but at the same time there were people who thought that he didn't suit the role and was not acting properly. Raj added, "I used to receive hate comments on social media but I took that as a motivation to do better. But now I feel happy that they have accepted me. Today, when I step out people come to me and say good things about my character especially when my family is around. I simply feel superb."

Raj also mentioned that it was a big responsibility for him because he had to make sure that the audience's attachment does not break with Tapu's character. He added that he tried his best to give everything but it took almost a month to get that masti and then to create a bond with Daya, Jeethalal and Dadaji.

Raj revealed that he was not aware that he will be replacing Bhavya until the day he got finalised. He said that it was the producer Asit Modi who later informed him about the development. Having a flat in Gokuldham society has been the dream of every common man.

The actor recently got into a conversation and spoke about his favourite scene from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and also spilt beans on the upcoming 3000 episode celebrations.

Yes, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah will soon complete 3000 episodes. It will be the second Hindi GEC after Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan's Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai to complete 3000 episodes.

Raj Anadkat aka Tapu was asked if they will have some grand celebrations, and he said, "Yes, there will be some grand celebrations. When we had completed 2900 episodes, we did have some good celebrations. When we had our press conference, even Asit Modi sir had said kuch grand hone wala hai, dhamakedar hone wala hai. So, yes fans can expect that. And I am hoping that we will give our best after the lockdown and give the audience the same entertainment package we used to give earlier."

Raj Anadkat was also asked about his most favourite scene from the show.

He shared, "Obviously, I loved my entry scene because when we were shooting that scene that time a lot of equipment, props, trolley shots, fireworks and bahut kuch hua tha. And everyone was saying that aisa entry ab tak kisika nai hua hai in the show. It was dhamakedar and it was beautifully played by the directors with those lightings and trolley shots. There were fireworks and all so that was the best one. I also loved the story we did on labourers. So, that was one story that I still remember well. I remember that we were shooting in the hot sun and it was difficult working using those spades and all. That time we got to know the real pain and how these labourers who work in that hot sun for us. It must be so difficult for them to do so. We felt that these people do deserve the respect and we must all respect them for working tirelessly in that heat."

Our fans have been waiting to watch the new episodes and we thank the government for allowing us to shoot. Hopefully, we'll soon be able to resume the shootings after receiving the final permissions from authorities and deliver quality entertainment to our audience."

The makers used the lockdown to create scripts and Asit says that a few of them have been finalized too. "We will begin shoots as early as possible and follow all the directives issued by the authorities to ensure that our cast and crew are safe. Over the last couple of months, we have been working very hard on creating new scripts and I feel optimistic that fans will like it. We have already finalized some interesting scripts," he added.

There is a little apprehension in all our minds but we have confidence in our production team’s efforts in ensuring our safety at work. Post the Government’s announcement to allow the entertainment industry to resume operations, the show’s production unit has been taking conscious efforts to decide on safest ways to resume operations.

“We are yet to receive a confirmation on when exactly we will begin shooting but we’ve been told that we will have to follow stringent protocols to ensure our own as well as others’ safety at work. Nevertheless, just the thought that the Gokuldham Society will be back again on TV to entertain our fans and make them laugh, is very exhilarating,” says Palak Sidhwani, who plays the role of Sonu.

The production team is deliberating to the smallest detail and are charting out plans to ensure that everyone on the set is as safe as possible. Sheds have been erected at various places inside the set as a safety measure to maintain social distance especially for monsoon season. Billed as the world’s longest-running family comedy serial, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is running in its 12th year and is watched by millions of Indians worldwide.
“I have been playing the character of Jethalal for the past 12 years and he is now almost a part of my life. For the last three months, I have been missing that part, my Gokuldham family and my audience family. We all want for the shooting to resume as soon as possible and at the same time there is apprehension in everyone’s minds regarding the safety precautions. But again, having said that, I am sure the way Asit Bhai has managed and taken care of the team since the last 12 years, he will once again make the apt decision which is best for the show as well as for the artists and crew members. Asit Modi, the creator of the show 'Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah' talks about resuming the shooting and the precautions that the production house is taking.



SAB TV 's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, one of the most popular and the longest-running show has finally resumed their shoot.

The Director of the show, Malav Rajda along with his team, has been personally supervising the set's sanitization, make-up artists wearing PPE kits among other precautionary measures, so as to rectify any loose ends from their parts before the Actors return to the sets.

Asit Modi, the creator of the show talks about resuming the shooting and the precautions that the production house is taking. Speaking about it, he says, "As on the 10th of July 2020, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has officially resumed its shooting for the show. And very soon we will be amidst you on your TV screens. Please do pray for us and the entire team’s well-being as you have for the past so many years and we too will pray for your health and happiness. We have mustered a lot of courage and returned to the sets, keeping in mind that we have to follow the social distancing norms, wear protective gear and adhere to all the guidelines as advised by the Government. All we need now is your blessings and very soon we will be back to entertain you, make you laugh and bring happiness and positivity in your lives,”

TMKOC Gurucharan Singh aka Sodhi quits the show; Balwinder Singh Suri approached for the role?

According to the latest reports in the media Gurucharan Singh who plays the role of Sodhi in SAB TV famous show Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah has quit the show.



SAB TV show Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah has been entertaining the viewers over the years and all the members of the Gokuldham society have now become a household name. The cast and crew of the show have already begun it's shooting and the makers are taking all the precautions and safety measures.

However, as per the latest reports by ETimes TV, Gurucharan Singh who plays the role of Sodhi has quit the show. A source close to the portal informed that Gurucharan has already quit the show and he has not been shooting for it post the lockdown.

The reports also suggest that the makers are looking out for a replacement for his role. Balwinder Singh Suri who is widely known for his role in the film 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' is being considered for the role and if everything falls into place, he may become a part of the show. However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Prior this, the rumours of Gurucharan Singh quitting the show was doing it's round on the internet. However, at that time, the makers rubbished all the reports and stated that he is still a part of the show.

She said, “I and my family have always watched the show. I am very excited to join the cast. It all happened overnight hence, it’s yet to sink in. Having said that, I want to focus on work and give my best.”

On if she is feeling the pressure, she said, “Obviously, there is. I would be lying if I say that there is no pressure. 12 years is a long time and people are watching the character every day on their screens. Having said that producer and director have been very chilled out and they have made me feel extra conformable. I want to thank Asit sir for this opportunity. Taarak aka Sailesh ji has also been very sweet. The pressure is in my head as I hope the audience accepts me. They have a special corner for Neha and she has been fabulous for 12 years as Anjali. It is not easy to stick around for so long. She was amazing and people love her so much, I hope to receive the same love.”

Talking about what she will be doing with the character, she said, “I would be keeping the basics of the character intact. I won’t change the thinking of the character. Having said that, I am not going to mimic Neha but get in my own flavour. I want to become Anjali for the audiences.” Interestingly, Fozdar reunited with actor Raj Anadkat where they worked together in Ek Rishta Saajhedaari ka on Sony TV. On the same she said, “Raj who plays the role of Tappu was with me in TV show Ek Rishta Sajhedaari Ka. I was playing his Bhabhi in the show. I have not met him on set as of now as we have not had our shoot together. We had a good bond there. Otherwise, also, the cast of Taarak cast has also been very welcoming. They came and spoke to me and made me conformable.”

Talking about her favourite character in the show, she says, “Dayaben and Jethaa Lal has been favourite of a lot of people. Daya ben has been very cute and funny.”

In conclusion, she said, “I want fans to support me. I would request them to be kind to me. Honestly, I don’t want to get into her (Neha) shoes but I want to get a new pair of shoes and I hope audiences accept that. I won’t be able to be exactly like Neha but I will do my best. My main motto is to entertain audiences and I will do that for sure. I just want them to give me a chance.”
