Kevin Pietersen

The deposed England captain, with a base price of US $1.35 million, was snapped up by Vijay Mallya's Bangalore Royal Challengers for $ 1.55 million.

It broke the IPL record for the highest-paid player. He and compatriot Andrew Flintoff bettered India Mahendra Singh Dhoni's mark of $1.5 million paid by Chennai Super Kings last year.

Andrew Flintoff

The England all-rounder, with a base price $950,000, was bought by Chennai Super Kings for $1.55 million.

He should make a formidable combination with India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as he can bat and bowl. His years of experience in international cricket should stand his team in good stead.

Jean Paul Duminy

Mumbai Indians bought emerging South African batsman Jean Paul Duminy for a staggering $ 950,000 which was more than three times his base price of $300,000.
The 24-year-old, who has played just three Tests and 24 ODIs, played a stellar role in South Africa's triumph Down Under. He is a handy contributor with the ball with his off-spinners and is quite brilliant in the field.
