Default Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S launch set for March 23, will be a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro

Xiaomi is set to launch the Redmi Note 9S in select markets next week. The smartphone will be launched in Malaysia and Pakistan on March 23. Ahead of the launch, it has been confirmed that the device will be a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro. To recall, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 9 series in India last week. At the time of the launch, the company announced that these are being launched in India first. Now, the Chinese smartphone maker is set to expand the product lineup to other markets, albeit with a different name.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S: What to expect

The product is being teased by the official Facebook pages of both Xiaomi Malaysia and Xiaomi Pakistan. Alongside these teasers, there is also a Geekbench listing that gives us confirmation about the device. It particularly confirms that we are looking at a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro. The listing shows that the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset and is paired with 6GB of RAM. It also runs Android 10 out of the box.

The device has a single-core score of 571 points and multi-core score of 1,780. This Geekbench score is identical to that of the Redmi Note 9 Pro, which launched last week in India. So, it is safe to assume that Redmi Note 9S will feature the same quad rear camera setup as well. There will be a 48-megapixel main camera with Samsung ISOCELL GM2 sensor. It will be paired with an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera, a 5-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

At the front, we should see a 6.67-inch display with punch-hole design. The punch-hole will house a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. It is still not clear whether Xiaomi plans to introduce the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in those markets as well. The Chinese smartphone maker is already the leader in India and is now looking to strengthen its base in other Asian markets. With Redmi Note’s success, the company has a clearly shot at becoming leader in these markets.
