Valentine’s Day originated as a Christian feast day that honored Saint along with other Christian saints called Valentinus. It is recognized as an important day culturally in many countries but is not a public holiday in any country.
Although many saints and the stories of their martyrdom were added to the Valentine’s Day the most popular one is of Saint Valentine of Rome who was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for aiding Christians who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. Valentine’s Day is a special day for every lover as the day provides them with an opportunity to profess their love. Lovers exchange gifts and make promises to each other. However, Valentine’s Day these days is not specific anymore for lovers only but is a day to tell all your loved ones how much they mean to you.
During the Valentine’s Week, there are other days which are designated to special gifts like roses, chocolates, teddy bear or stuff toys and intangible gifts such as promises, proposals, hugs and kisses which eventually lead to the Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is not only a day for celebrating new love but also for renewing your commitments and marital vows to your life partner which you must have made years before. Here’s wishing everyone a very happy Valentine’s Day.
