Amitabh Bachchan has become a marketing mastermind. Currently he has a good product
Paa and he is doing everything to make it a genuine hit, not a semi hit. First, he started using his blog to promote Paa. For the last few weeks, his blog is bringing the news of Paa only.
The cost of making Paa was kept low to make it a hit somehow. The curiosity to see
Bachchan in his new Avatar contributed a lot. The critics were kind somehow. They had plenty to tear this film apart. But they made gentle remarks and gave 3 to 3.5 stars.
Amitabh won over the media by giving extensive and exclusive interviews. Now he is trying to make it tax free and managed Gujarat. For that he praised and invited
Modi to watch Paa with him. He also sent special invites to
Sachin Tendulkar. For the premiere, he invited the entire
bollywood bigshots. He is indulging in self praise with all humility. Will this strategy work for all his other films? It seems that he just does not want to fade away like his contemporaries. He wants to be in the flashing limelight until the last. Bravo to the untiring hero.
I will rather watch him as
Amitabh Bachchan rather watching him as ET. It is too painful for me physically and mentally. And he still surprises us.
What drives him? He has crores in his kitty, a supportive family and an envious lifestyle. Age is catching up with him and his body revolts most of the time. His face has more folds and but his gait is steady. His voice is the same but there is a hint of fatigue. He has hynotic presence which even his detractors accept.
His dependence on political bigwigs for support is well known. He lends them his glamour and they lend him their patronage. He is with all types of political parties. This shows that he has no fixed ideology and he is different from his father. His father was a great man of thoughts and words and I think that he would have been happy without any fame and little money. He would have been happy with a notebook and a pen sitting in a cramped room with some old furniture. What he would have wanted could have been some freedom of expression through his writings. But his son chose a different field where competition matters and a world which is filled with go getters. And the fame he got and is getting is like nasha. Once the fame leaves, it will leave a such void which all his crores will not be able to seal.
He wants to be like his father atleast in his thoughts. But he will not give up his chase for limelight so easily come what may. So we can see more of Bachchan, the megastar in the coming days.He is still the big moon adorning the night sky with lots of twinkling stars surrounding him. But some stars are threatening to become bigger during the moonless nights.
