PA04 is the tcode for the allocation of the number ranges as internal and external
if it is internal the user has to give the number as input if it is system generated than it will be External and this value has to be used as return value in Feature NUMKR featuire in Pe03 |

Number ranges is basically a purpose of defining your Perno range.Few clients wants an inetrnal number range and at the time of hiring it will be a system generated and few clients may want External where we have to give the personel Number manually at the time of hiring..Main linkage is
SPRO-Personnel Management-->Personnel Administration--> Mantain Number range for Personnel Numbers--> Now click on change and define ur range here Say 01 20000 30000 and check box is slected if u want External else its is internal. Now this 01 has to be assigned to NUMKR feature . |

1) What is the significance of the Number range concept while hiring(PA30)?(Internal and external)
Ans. While hiring (PA40) if you assign it to Internal number range, the system automatically update the personnel no. When you hire again the continuity of personnel no will be maintained in a sequence. For Ex. 1) Hiring Applicant 1 - 3000000 2) Hiring Appllicant 2 - 3000001 (This is internal assignment) If you choose External no. you have to enter the personnel no. manually and it is not advicable. 2) How is the allocation of personnel no. done automatically during hiring? Ans. Before hiring you have to set the number range, through TCODE - PA04 and assign the number ranges in it. Then through FEATURE "NUMKR" default the Number Range you assigned in 'PA04". Note: The return value should be no. you assigned in "PA04" |
