Kalank movie review: Varun Dhawan's stellar act lifts up this sentimental tale of unrequited love

Kalank is one of Varun Dhawan's best works and also features Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in pivotal roles




Karan Johar's Kalank is the project, which is closest to his heart. It was a story he had discussed with his dad, late film producer Yash Johar and he had loved it. Years later, the film, Kalank directed by Abhishek Varman of 2 States fame is hitting the theatres. It is a love story set in the pre-Partition India. The film stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. Sridevi was the initial choice for the role but her untimely demise led to Madhuri's entry as the reclusive, stunning and evocative Bahaar Begum. It is a tale of unrequited love, pain, betrayal and revenge. The songs of the film Ghar More Pardesiya, First Class and Tabah are a rage already. Here is the movie review of the magnum opus...


Verdict
Kalank is a fabulously mounted film with great performances. If you can overlook the length, it will be a good watch. This has to be one of Varun Dhawan's best.

The film is directed by Punit Malhotra. Well, it is the classic tale of the underdog. The setting is the same, Dehradun's prestigious St Teresa's college with just a poor student Rohan Sachdev (Tiger Shroff) trying to negotiate between his dreams and love for Mridula/Mia (Tara Sutaria)


Verdict
Leave your logic behind and you wont find SOTY2 to be a disappointment. It is a total timepass movie with some lilting music and funny one-liners. And let us tell you that both the girls are quite confident and you would see more of them.Rating:2 out of 5

De De Pyaar De stars Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and Tabu in lead roles. The film is an urban rom-com where a 50 year old man falls in love with a much younger woman. What happens when she meets his family forms the rest of the story.



Verdict

A quirky plot, some ****er dialogues and Ajay and Tabu's chemistry make it a decent one time watch. If you can ignore the problematic areas, the film is one time Paisa vasool.

Filmmaker Rajkumar Gupta is known to have done exhaustive research for India's Most Wanted for a year and a half. Then, it took him close to two years to write it down. He often directs his own scripts and this film is no different. Arjun Kapoor plays the undercover protagonist who leads a team of five agents in disguise in the heart of Bihar and Nepal to find one dreaded terrorist. How they execute their plan and nab the terrorist forms the story of the film.


Verdict
India’s Most Wanted is a sincere effort to document an untold chapter about common men who braved their life to nab a dangerous terrorist. They stayed in the shadows and didn’t get medals yet their contribution is worth being documented and narrated.
