As Maharashtra witnesses massive spike in COVID-19 cases, many Bollywood and television celebrities contracted the deadly virus. Some of the names include Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Alia Bhatt, Govinda, Bigg Boss fame Ajaz Khan, Aditya Narayan, wife Shweta, Rupali Ganguly, Aashish Mehrotra, Sudhanshu Pandey, producer Rajan Shahi tested positive. The spike in coronavirus cases has made the Uddhav Thackeray government announce lockdown-like restrictions across the state from 8 pm on Monday (April 5). On weekends, a complete lockdown will be imposed. Late on Sunday, the state government said all shops except essential services would remain shut till the end of the month. Restaurants will be allowed to operate only takeaway and home delivery services during the daytime. Night curfew will also be imposed every day from 8 pm to 7 am, gathering of five or more persons will be prohibited during the daytime – 7 am to 8 pm- on weekdays. Check out the full list here.

Actor Bhumi Pednekar tested COVID-19 positive today and said that she has mild symptoms. She informed her fans, “Even though I followed utmost precaution and care I have contracted it. Wear a mask, keep washing your hands, maintain social distancing, and be mindful of your general behaviour.”

Singer and TV host Aditya Narayan, who had tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, April 3, 2021, has been hospitalized in Mumbai. Aditya was under home quarantine with his wife Shweta Agarwal as she too tested positive for COVID-19.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has been tested positive for the coronavirus. The news was confirmed by his mother, Neetu Kapoor. She wrote, 'Thank you for your concern and your good wishes. Ranbir has tested positive for Covid-19. He is on medication and recovering well. He is in self quarantine at home and following all precautions ????' (sic)

After Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor tested positive for COVID-19, the next celebrity who got coronavirus was filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The director was busy shooting for his upcoming project Gangubai Kathiawadi in Mumbai’s Goregaon Film City, also featuring Alia Bhatt.
