Default 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat ki' (Star Cast, Controversies)

Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki is an Indian mythological television drama series on 9X based on the Sanskrit epic Mahabharat. It ran from 7 July 2008 to 6 November 2008. The series was produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under their banner Balaji Telefilms. It went off air on 6 November 2008

Critics Review
Writing for Livemint, Padmaparna Ghosh wrote that "Ekta Kapoor's Mahabharat is another complicated multi-character soap which has revenge, hatred jealousy and family feuds on an epic scale, which for a Mythological series sums epic disaster". Actor Mukesh Khanna stated that producer Ekta Kapoor made so horrendous epic saga which was incomprehensible with the characterisation and costumes of the mythological characters. He also stated that the way Kapoor made the saga was a mockery of Mahabharata.

Navya Sinha another critic wrote for Hindustan Times that "Ekta Kapoor's Mahabharat is all about Six-pack abs, waxed chests, off-shoulder blouses and a scantily-clad Draupadi decked in a chiffon sari"

User Review:
This was a good opportunity to realize Mahabharata in a new avatar. Would give Ekta Kapoor points for trying, but she went all Ekta kapoor melodrama trying to realize that dream. Most of the folks couldn't digest it and that cause this Series demise. With decent pacing and to the point story could have made it tolerable and might have an okay watch.

User Review:
Ekta kapoor should have shamed on herself. She completely ruined the Epicness of the great Epic.. Especially that dash raj scene she should had been put in the jail. Everyone should boycott her historical shows...After it she did another disaster after making jodha akbar in this show akbar did everything except war...In that show there existed two pivotal points, (i.e. Rukaiya begum and jodha begum) in which akbar go and forth. Even his(akbar) concerns were more related to jodha begum like seriously she make everything from the view of daily soap..she doesn't gaf about anything..she can do anything for Trp and misplacing of historical facts is like her daily routine..i think her parents are also responsible to not tell her about historical facts...after watching this MAHABHARAT i can say only one thing stop doing this...or try to make shows (by misplacing facts here and there)on islamic traditions. Then she realised what could be done with anyone if someone try to make shows with disruptive facts.

Popular voice over artist and the narrator of BR Chopra's iconic mythological show Mahabharat, Harish Bhimani believes that with 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat ki', Ekta Kapoor modernised it and could not communicate the essence of the epic.

BR Chopra's iconic mythological show, Mahabharat is remembered even today and with the re-run, the show has reached even a wider audience. However in the year 2008, Ekta Kapoor launched a show, 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat ki'. However as per Harish Bhimani, popular voice over artist and the narrator of BR Chopra's iconic mythological show, Ekta Kapoor's show could not communicate the essence of the epic.

Harish told the Times of India, "Ekta Kapoor modernised it and could not communicate the essence of the epic. Filmmaker Shyam Benegal made a movie 'Kalyug' (1981), which was a modern take on ‘Mahabharat’. So, if you want to streamline ‘Mahabharat’, you have to take into consideration the theme, plot points and several other things before putting them as per the current scenario."

He also added that another version of Mahabharat was made by Dr. Chandra Prakash Dwivedi where he changed the screeplay to a flashback format. Harish said that he started with the the battle of Kurukshetra and then went back to the beginning of the story. He believes that a complicated story like Mahabharat should always been shown in a linear narrative format, to make it easier for the audience to understand.
