"My kids used to get teased in school as I played female characters. I was sceptical about playing Daadi also as my kids were young at that time. They were in 4 or 5th standard. They used to get mocked as I played Basanti's role, they would get 'Arre iska baap basanti hai', iski do do maa hai'. Once, on a Saturday, we were having dinner with the entire family, my show was playing on Television and there was an announcement that I will come as a bahu. My son just got up and asked me "Aap ko aur kuch aata nahi hai?". Bechara Chota baccha asked me, don't you know anything else to do? He shared with me, that you don't know I get mocked in my school because you play only female characters. I just ignored everything. "When I decided I will not play female characters, I was out of work. Trust me, I kept saying no to work and for 9 months, I was without work. I was just getting offers for female characters. I am an actor. I just play these roles and it's not like I haven't played any other roles. But when I started doing comedy, I got slotted and I just couldn't come out of these female clothes. The character that I play, Daadi, is also very close to me and I have a lot of advantages while playing it. When I am doing Daadi, the entertainment quotient goes higher. ​My friends called me after the premiere episode


Yes, my friends are very happy with my participation. After the premiere episode I got a call from a few of them who told me they loved me on the show but also asked where the dancing was. I was confused and asked “Aap ko Mera dance dikha nahi”. I told them I won’t start performing as Micheal Jackson in the first episode. I will take some time, there is no magic, it is all hard work.
