Default Bengali TV Shows are keen on welcoming Bollywood stars almost back-to-back

Well, Bengali television seems to have been ‘obsessed’ with Bollywood stars. Here are some of the recent examples…

​Sunny Leone


This is the first time Sunny will be seen on Bengali television. Ever since the news of her appearance on ‘Dance Dance Junior Season 2’ was disclosed, viewers simply can’t wait to see her. She was in Kolkata to shoot for the show. Sunny will set the stage on fire with her groovy performance too in the soon-to-be-aired finale. It will be interesting to see how the episode fares on the TRP charts.

Remo D’Souza

Sonu Nigam


While Kumar Sanu has been a part of Bengali reality shows before, Sonu Nigam will judge a show for the first time. Anil Kapoor


The talented Bollywood actor, who has Hollywood projects to his credit, appeared on Bengali TV few months back. Anil enjoyed catching up with Mithun Chakraborty on the sets of ‘Dance Dance Junior Season 2’. The duo set the stage on fire with groovy dance moves too. This is the first time he appeared on Bengali TV.

Raveena Tandon


Raveena shares a close connection with Bengal and she has always been vocal about it. The pretty actress has appeared on a number of occasions in different reality shows including ‘Dance Bangla Dance Junior’ and 'Dance Bangla Dance' as special guests. To spice up the entertainment quotient, the makers of ‘Dance Dance Junior Season 2’ invited her as the special guest. She mesmerised the audience with her charming presence and dance performances in the show.


Urmila Matondkar


Keeping the trend of inviting Bollywood biggies to Bengali shows alive, a ‘Dance Dance Junior Season 2’ welcomed ‘Rangeela girl’ Urmila Matondkar. Bengali viewers simply couldn’t keep calm when Urmila Matondkar appeared on ‘Dance Dance Junior Season 2’. She stole the hearts of the audience with her charming presence.


Govinda


While Raveena, made a special appearance on ‘Dance Dance Junior Season 2’ a few months back, her good friend and former co-star Govinda is currently judging the dance reality show ‘Dance Bangla Dance’. Govinda starrer dance reality show is aired by a leading Bengali TV channel and scoring well in terms of TRP. Govinda and Raveena, appeared together in the last season of ‘Dance Bangla Dance Junior’. The ongoing season of ‘Dance Bangla Dance’ has Jeet and Subhashree Ganguly as the judges alongside Govinda while Ankush Hazra and Vikram Chatterjee are the hosts. Govinda is enjoying his new inning as a judge, and has already developed a good bond with his co-judges and Ankush.

Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Shaan


Both Bollywood singers have been a part of the previous season of ‘Super Singer’. Eminent singer Kavita Krishnamurthy, alongside Kumar Sanu, was a part of the panel of judges of ‘Super Singer’ prior to the lockdown. She couldn’t continue shooting due to the pandemic. With more and more Bollywood biggies appearing on Bengali shows, there is no shortage of high dosage of entertainment on television. Prior to this, only a handful of non-fiction shows had welcomed Bollywood stars as guests or judges. Television audiences watched later choreographer Masterji Saroj Khan as a judge in ‘Dance Pe Chance’, welcomed Rishi Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, music maestro Shivamani, KK, Shankar Mahadevan, even Shah Rukh Khan as the special guests. But such star appearances were mostly limited to special episodes or finales. It was not so frequent. But now, eying on the TRPs, all leading Bengali television channels are keen on welcoming Bollywood stars almost back-to-back. Recently Sunny Leone, Remo D'Souza flew to Kolkata to shoot for a popular dance reality show. The same show earlier welcomed Urmila Matondkar, Raveena Tandon, and Anil Kapoor. On the other hand, yet another rival channel had welcomed Mika Singh and Akriti Kakar as the celebrity judges, besides Joy Sarkar and Srikanta Acharjee in 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'.
