Story, Film is about:
A man returns home after years to find his brother's child bride now grown up and abandoned, and his ancestral village plagued by mysterious deaths.

After Paatal Lok, Anushka Sharma is bankrolling Netflix original film titled Bulbbul. Directed by Anvita Dutt, Bulbbul features Tripti Dimri, Avinash Tiwary, Rahul Bose, Paoli Dam and Parambrata Chattopadhyay in lead roles. It is set to release on Netflix on June 24.

• Speaking of Bulbbul, Netflix says: “This mystery is an Indian fable set in 20th century Bengal. The film traverses the journey of a young girl, Bulbbul from innocence to strength, as the legend of a chudail casts a looming shadow over her [Bulbbul’s] world.”
  Meanwhile, Anushka recently co-produced Amazon Prime series Paatal Lok, that received a great response from the audience and the critics.

Negative Reviews:

• Predictable from the beginning.
• Disappointed because of the Screenplay, It's a folk tale I understand but screenplay is weak.
• If you want Horror than you'll surely get disappoint. Watch it for the performance of all the actors. That's a good point about this movie.
• Bulbbul as a concept on paper is good and is praiseworthy...but worthless for being made as a full fledged movie...!!
• Indulgence in red to showcase night is just **** when the "Chudail' is fishing for her next prey just saturating and jarring to see.
• Story telling is way more slow and it's not scary at all and not even thriller. Acting is ok but the main element is missing and you get totally bored while watching, could have been better but totally missed the chance.

• Though, it becomes predictable at indtances, it is a enjoyable watch. Especially, for Tripti Dimri's brilliant act!
• It's undeniable that the lead actress Tripti Dimri does a very decent job in portraying her calm but wild character.
• Loved the movie. Phoenomenal job by the whole cast especially the lead actress Tripti Dimra playing Bulbul. The story suits the modern era as instead of showing jump scares n gory faces, it actually shows the anguished soul and the pain behind it. It also sheds light on Child marriage, Gender inequality, Patriarchal society & dirty secrets in rich families. Watch it if you're interested in a good story, great acting, and perfect visuals. But if you just wanna see a typical horror movie, this is not the one for you. I'm taking 1 star off coz I was kinda disappointed by the ending. Other than that it's a well made movie.
  
  Special mention to Rahul Bose, Paoli Dam, Parambratha, Avinash Tiwary for the fantastic & a very realistic portrayal of their respective characters. Kudos to writer for writing this brilliant story and last but not least congratulations to Anushka Sharma for bringing another gem under her production.
• Commendable acting by Tripti Dimri & Rahul Bose. Story is bit slow but holds on afterwards. Background music is mindblowing. If you pay attention you can predict but this movie wont disappoint you. Kudos to directors and producers for trying something new. I would love to see these kind of movies.
• A completely unique story and an amazing artwork from the director. The CGI was wholesome everywhere and didn't disappoint. The Actors did their job perfectly. The background score was so amazing and did the movie right. Overall a fantastic job from the crew all in all.

Set in a pre independent Bengal, Bulbbul narrates a story of a child bride & her emotional & physical abuse at various stages of her life. Just like the production house's earlier films Phillauri & Pari Bulbbul also majorly focuses on female oppression, trauma & various stigma attached to their behaviours. The cinematographer has used heavily saturated tones of Red in almost every frame to justify violence, anger & seduction. Most frames & its aesthetics resembles majorly by Indian mythological folklores & celebrated paintings by Raja Ravi Verma. Even though the entire film looks opulent & magnanimous with fairly decent performances from its major lead, it lacks in giving importance to its subplots, character journey and entire intelligent messaging.
