His life changes direction when he meets journalist Megha (Dimple Kapadia). She encourages him to help bring justice to the people in the society that he is living in. An army officer Vijay Malhotra (Pankaj Dheer) is ****ed by the corrupt army officers, Virender (Dalip Tahil), Pratap (Suresh Oberoi), Jaswant (Salim Ghouse) along with a smuggler called DK who wants to steal the weapons which Vijay is transporting from one place to another. Also, they declare him as a traitor, but Vijay's wife Geeta (Raakhee) knows that her husband was framed but has no proof. She hands her son Raju to Dinesh Kapoor (Ashish Vidyarthi) a family friend, as she wants to protect her son from being hurt by the villagers. Twenty years later, with the orders of Kapoor, who is now the Police Commissioner Vicky (Bobby Deol) ******s Jaswant and then goes to Australia to **** Pratap and Virender. There he meets Pratap's daughter Preity (Preity Zinta) and they both fall in love. But, soon Pratap finds that Vicky is Vijay's son. What will he do now?

Thakur Bhanupratap Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) is well respected in his community. He has three sons. The first two are well educated and responsible men. His marriage has been arranged with Gauri (Rachana Banerjee) and the wedding preparations are on when she requests him to stop the arrangements as she does not want to marry him. When he does so, his father believes that Heera has stopped the wedding and throws him out of the house. Later, he meets Radha (Soundarya) who is well-educated and who falls in love with Heera. They get married and set up a house. They start a new business and by sheer stint of hard work, become a great success. They also have a small son, Bhanu. Soon, Thakur Bhanupratap begins to meet his grandson in secret. Will the rift between father and son heal?
