Default All the Airplains Cancelled due to Microsoft technical glitch

What we know about Microsoft technical glitch

The US faced initial glitches late Thursday as Microsoft services, including Azure and 365, encountered issues. The London Stock Exchange (LSE) Group reported a global technical problem hindering news dissemination. These incidents followed Microsoft’s announcement of resolving an Azure cloud services outage. A Microsoft spokesperson assured that investigations are ongoing to address the reported outages and concerns.

Thousands of users across the world reported problems with Microsoft 365 apps and services to Downdetector.com, a website that tracks service disruptions.

SpiceJet on Microsoft Outage
“We are currently experiencing technical challenges with our service provider, affecting online services including booking, check-in, and manage booking functionalities. As a result, we have activated manual check-in and boarding processes across airports. We kindly request passengers with upcoming travel plans to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to complete check-in at our counters. We sincerely regret for any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that our teams are diligently working with our service provider to resolve these issues promptly. Thank you for your patience and co-operation during this time.”

Indigo on Microsoft Outage
IndiGo said, Our system across the network are impacted by an ongoing issue with Microsoft Azure, which has resulted in increased wait times at out contact centres and airports. You may experience slower check-ins and longer queues. We are all hands-on desk and we are working relentlessly to restore stability and normalcy. Our digital team is also coordinating closely with Microsoft Azure to resolve these issues swiftly. We appreciate tour patience and understanding during this time.”

Akasa on Microsoft Outage
Akasa Airlines announced that some of its online services will be temporarily unavailable at the Mumbai and Delhi airports, saying,” Due to infrastructure issues with our service provider, some of our online services, including booking, check-in and manage booking services will be temporarily unavailable.”

What Is Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)?

The Blue Screen of Death, also known as the BSOD, is quite a nasty surprise that pops up on Windows Operating System when something goes seriously wrong. These mishaps can cause your computer to restart out of the blue, possibly causing any unsaved work to disappear. What you’ll typically see in this case is an error message saying something to the effect of, “Oops, your PC just ran into a problem and has to restart. We’re just gathering some error info, then we’ll restart for you.”

Microsoft outage

A massive global outage crippled operations of airlines, banks and businesses across the world on Friday following an update from a third-party software platform on devices running Windows 10. Microsoft said it is aware of the issue and assured a resolution is forthcoming.

“We’re aware of an issue affecting Windows devices due to an update from a third-party software platform,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.

Airline ops hit
The outage put operations of businesses and systems across the globe in a state of limbo with airports and airline operations facing significant disruptions. Several users reported disruptions on outage-tracking website Downdetector, and many took to X (now twitter) to vent their frustration on the ‘Blue Screen of Death’ error messages.

However, the country’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) said its systems are unaffected by the Microsoft global outage. Stock exchanges NSE and BSE too said they are not impacted due to the global outage of Microsoft systems.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that IT ministry is in touch with Microsoft regarding global outage, and added that NIC network is not affected.

CERT to issue advisory
In a post on X, IT minister Vaishnaw said that the reason for this outage has been identified and updates have been released to resolve the issue.

CERT is issuing a technical advisory, he wrote. “MEITY is in touch with Microsoft and its associates regarding the global outage… NIC network is not affected,” the minister said.

Meanwhile, CERT-In has issued an advisory on the Microsoft outage caused by Crowdstrike update, and rated its severity as “critical”.
