Deepika celebrates birthday with Indian Idol

Indian Idol contestants were in for a real treat. They got to celebrate actress Deepika Padukone's birthday with her on Saturday. Padukone had come for the promotion for her next film, Chandni Chowk to China, on the reality show.

After finishing with the shoot, there was a big surprise planned by all the contestants which touched Deepika's heart in a very special way. Deepika was just about to leave when Hussain revealed the surprise.


"It was a very sweet gesture," says the birthday gal, "I am very happy. I didn't even expect that they would celebrate my birthday and make me cut a cake."

But the surprise wasn't just a cake.

Another thing which added to Deepika's excitement was the presence of her parents on the sets. Her dad, former badminton champion Prakash Padukone, even came up to the stage with his daughter.

Ask about her plans for today, beautiful damsel says, "There are no plans as such. I'll be working and spending time with my family."
