10 Hit Bengali shows which were remade in other languages
‘Drawing inspiration’ from hit films or TV shows isn’t new in the entertainment industry. Replicating a hit formula isn’t new in the world of telly world either. Be it twists and turns in the storyline, utilizing one formula in another or remakes, nothing is new in showbiz. Keeping the tradition alive, many Bengali daily shows have been remade in Hindi and other regional languages. Here’s a quick look at the recent Bengali shows which 'inspired' remakes…
'Deep Jwele Jai' as 'Rishton Ka Manjha'
- The recently launched Hindi show ‘Rishton Ka Manjha’, starring Krushal Ahuja and Aanchal Goswami is the remake of ‘Deep Jwele Jai’ which was a huge hit.
- The Bengali show starred Nabanita Das and Indrajit Chakraborty.
'Sreemoyee' as 'Anupamaa', 'Inthi Nimma Asha' and others
- Indrani Halder and Tota Roy Choudhury starrer ‘Sreemoyee’ has kept Bengali audiences glued to the small screen with its high-voltage drama.
- The storyline revolving around the struggle of a middle-aged woman and her deprived life, was quite relatable to many TV audiences, especially female viewers.
- Sreemoyee became quite a trendsetter for many reasons. The show has been remade in 6 languages among which Hindi version ‘Anupamaa’ is an instant hit. Rupali Ganguly, Sudhanshu Pandey starrer Anupamaa is currently dominating the TRP charts.
- Just like the Bengali show, ‘Anupamaa’ also has Rohit Sen. Actor Gourav Khanna is playing Anuj Kapadia aka Sreemoyee’s Rohit Sen. It has been remade in Kannada (as Inthi Nimma Asha), Marathi (as Aai Kuthe Kay Karte), Malayalam (as Kudumbavilakku), Telugu (as Intinti Gruhalakshmi), Tamil (as Baakiyalakshmi).
'Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay' as 'Pranayavarnangal'
- The passionate love story of Karna and Radhika entertained Bengali audience for one and half years.
- It has been dubbed in Odia too. And the good news is, ‘Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay’ will have its Malayalam (as Pranayavarnangal) remake soon.
'Sanjher Baati' as 'Aapke Nazron Ne Samjha', Aakash Deepa', 'Raja Paarvai'
- Rezwan Rabbani Sheikh and Debchandrima Singha Roy starrer ‘Sanjher Baati’ was a successful season and currently having a new season.
- The show was first remade in Tamil as ‘Raja Paarvai’ and then in Kannada as ‘Akash Deepa’.
- The Bengali show has been remade in Hindi as ‘Aapke Nazron Ne Samjha’, starring Vijayendra Kumeria, Richa Rathore and Aditi Rathore.
'Mohor' as 'Sarasu', 'Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani' and others
- Sona Moni Saha and Pratik Sen starrer ‘Mohor’ managed to strike a bond with the Bengali audience quickly. It started showing its magic on TRP charts as well.
- Mohor’s success prompted the makers to remake it in Kannada as 'Sarasu', in Telugu 'Guppedantha Manasu', Hindi as 'Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani', Malayalam as 'Koodevide', Tamil as 'Kaatrukkenna Veli' and Marathi as 'Swabhiman - Shodh Astitvacha'. (Photo: Facebook)
'Khorkuto' as 'Tamil Namma Veetu Ponnu'

'Krishnakoli' as 'Krishna Tulasi', 'Krishna Sundari' and 'Shyama'
- Neel Bhattacharya and Triyasha Roy’s ‘Krishnakoli’ managed to cast its spell on TRP right after its launch.
- It dominated the TRP charts for a record period. A simple story, strong cast and soulful background music helped the show witness a quick success.
- The show has been remade in Telugu as 'Krishna Tulasi', Kannada as 'Krishna Sundari', 'Shyama' in Odia. It will soon have a Bhojpuri version too.
'Mithai' as 'Ninaithale Inikkum' and 'Jhili'
- 'Mithai' is currently Bengali TV’s number one show. The Adrit Roy and Soumitrisha Kundu starrer has a simple storyline backed with a stellar star cast.
- The show has been remade in Tamil as 'Ninaithale Inikkum' and will soon be remade in Odia as ‘Jhili’.
