World’s most expensive school: We have talked about some of the most expensive stuff in the world, from homes to cars and from hotels to watches. Today we tell you which is the most expensive school in the world. This information has been provided by The Spear’s List which has carried out extensive research on the world’s most expensive schools and has provided six institutions charging six-figure fees, and they’re all in Switzerland.

But we will tell you about the number one school in terms of the fees and overall expenses. The most expensive school in the world in the Spear’s Schools Index 2024 is the Swiss boarding school “Institut auf dem Rosenberg”.

Institut auf dem Rosenberg has combined tradition and futuristic vision and an emphasis on lifelong learning and embracing the outdoors and activities away from study.

Institut auf dem Rosenberg is a private international boarding school with a fees of $176,000 (Rs 1,52,50,440.83) per year. It is located near Lake Constance in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Founded in 1889, it is one of the oldest boarding schools in Switzerland. As of 2025, it has a tight-knit student body of around 280 students drawn from 60 nationalities. It has educated diplomats, oligarchs, world leaders, Nobel laureates, and generations of global aristocracy and industrial dynasties.

The school has 28 co-curricular facilities attached to its 13 art nouveau residences. The student-built SAGA Habitat and ETH Zurich greenhouse allows for the study of various engineering and agricultural cybernetic disciplines. The main campus, 25-hectares on the edge of Lake Constance, with adjoining school villas immediately across, features “wind-trees”.

Rosenberg was named the world’s Best Boarding School in 2024 by Premium Switzerland. It is included in The Schools Index of the world’s 150 best private schools and among top 10 international schools in Switzerland. It accepts no external funding or donations. The school places a strong emphasis on character development and holistic education with a philosophy grounded in the values of integrity, empathy and social responsibility. It seeks to instil these values in its students through a variety of initiatives, including community service projects, leadership development programmes, and experiential learning opportunities.
Institut auf dem Rosenberg has its own highly personalised curriculum that challenges students to push the boundaries of their knowledge and explore new horizons. Each student is given a tailored academic programme designed to meet their specific needs, interests, and goals, whether that student excels in academics, sports, arts, or entrepreneurship.

Rosenberg has a limited student capacity and has been described as one of the more exclusive Swiss boarding schools. Spaces are allocated on unusual merit, and it is rare for a student to join after the academic year begins.

Rosenberg is the most expensive school in the world when both tuition and boarding costs are taken into account.
