Default A reality show Contestant attempted suicide after Lost

Ultimate Big Brother contestant Nadia Almada is recovering following an alleged suicide attempt. The Portuguese trans***ual, 33, was hospitalised on Wednesday after being found slumped in the bathroom of her Surrey council flat by a friend after apparently taking a mixture of prescription drugs and pain****ers. Her alleged cry for help comes less than a week after her emotional eviction from the Ultimate Big Brother house, where she was booed by the crowd.

'Completely distraught': Nadia Almada broke down during her post-eviction interview on Ultimate Big Brother last Friday

A friend told The Sun: 'This is a cry for help. She is very unhappy.' Almada - who was born a boy named Jorge Leodoro - was kept under observation on Wednesday before being allowed home by doctors.'

Nadia apparently struggled to cope after she was evicted

A Big Brother spokeswoman said: 'We have been in constant touch with Nadia and like all housemates, she has access to all of our aftercare facilities.'

Since her eviction last Friday, Almada said she had received received hate mail and abuse in the street. In an interview on Sunday, the Big Brother 5 winner admitted she was 'completely distraught' and declared 'I want to end it all'. She apparently told the Daily Star Sunday: 'I just feel my life isn’t worth living any more. 'I can’t carry on living the way I feel. I’m in the gutter and I’m completely distraught. Going back on Big Brother has ruined my life. I was the victim in that house but I was shown to be the villain.

'I’m just gutted. I hate my life so much right now and sometimes ending it all is the only solution.' During her 11 days in the house, Nadia inadvertently prompted Big Brother 11 winner Josie Gibson to quit Ultimate Big Brother after criticising the latter's boyfriend John James Parton. She also argued with both Coolio and Ulrika Jonsson, leaving the Swedish presenter in tears.

Following her eviction, the fragile star hit out at the show's producers for editing her in a negative light. A spokeswoman for Big Brother denied she had been mis-edited, saying: 'With 24 hours' worth of material to turn into 60 minutes, not everything will feature in the highlights shows. We try to show a balanced and fair representation of all housemates.'

Her exit from the Ultimate Big Brother could not have been more different than when she won Big Brother 5 six years ago when she was greeted with cheers and fireworks.

Meanwhile, McCall has also apologised for making a joke about Almada when she introduced comedian Jarred Christmas on spin-off show Big Brother's Big Mouth. She said over the weekend: 'He has the charm of Coolio and the warmth of Ulrika. And he has the boyish good looks of Nadia.' McCall's joke sparked complaints from viewers so the presenter has now issued an apology. She said: 'Nadia has always been one of my favourite housemates of all time. 'But if I upset her or indeed anyone by the comment I made then I am horrified and offer my genuine apologies. 'I know when she came out of the house she was upset by the boos. She was true to herself in the house and I totally respect her.'
