But at the same time, you also have to avoid certain foods that may cause unwanted complications. There are many foods that can be harmful for you and your baby. It is also a fact that sometimes your pregnancy diet may be influenced by religious beliefs, social conditioning and health conditions. So, it is always best to consult a doctor about the right diet that you must follow during those crucial nine months.


Undercooked meat: You must always eat well-cooked meat when you’re pregnant to avoid the risk of toxoplasmosis. This is caused by a tiny parasite that lives in raw meat.

Raw eggs: This includes partially cooked eggs too. Eating raw eggs can give you salmonella, which is avoidable if you are pregnant.


Sesame seeds: In earlier days, dry sesame seeds were used as a medicine for abortion. It stimulates the uterine muscle and may cause an expulsion of the fertilized ovum.


Papaya: Raw and unripe papaya contains a substance called latex, which causes uterine contractions. Papain and pepsin in papaya restricts fetal growth.


Pineapple: It contains bromelain, which can soften the cervix and lead to miscarriage. It can also heat your body up rapidly leading to abortion or premature birth.
