Default Sony Liv's Your Honor (Star Cast, Story Written Update, All Seasons, All Episodes)

SonyLiv's Your Honor
  • Set in Ludhiana, a small town in Punjab, this is the story of an upright and honest man who sacrifices, subverts and manipulates all morality and relationships to save his only son.
  • Judge Bishan Khosla is about to become a High Court Judge when his only son, Abeer Khosla, gets involved in a hit and run.
  • The conscientious Bishan is about to turn his son in, when he learns that the victim is the son of a dreaded and violent gangster, currently in prison because of him.
  • Told with riveting performances by a stellar ensemble (Jimmy Sheirgill, Yashpal Sharma, Meeta Vashisth, Varun Badola) and shot aesthetically in the heart of small-town Punjab, we follow Bishan's fall from grace as he uses his wits and knowledge of the law to save his son, as the bodies pile up.
  • This is an arresting drama series that walks the thin line between moral and immoral, justifies the greys, and compels the viewer to introspect what constitutes honor.

What is about the TV show:
Adapted from the Israeli series Kvodo, Your Honor chronicles the life of an honest and upright man, Bishan Khosla, who is to be promoted as a High Court Judge. But fate has different plans when his son gets involved in a hit-and-run case. Caught in the dilemma between family and morality, will the judge in him be able to overrule the system? Witness Bishan’s fall from grace as he uses his wits and knowledge of the law to save his son. Directed by the prolific filmmaker E Niwas, the series features Jimmy Sheirgill, Varun Badola and Mita Vashisht in the lead.

Negative Reviews:
  • Coming to the bad, the show, while tightly knit in terms of the screenplay does feel like a tad too stretched for twelve episodes even though the runtime average of 30 plus minutes is a boon. Apart from that, the show wastes the talent of a fine talent like Suhasini Mulay. Inspite of getting a decent character arc later, Mulay’s character doesn’t get the justice it should have. It is tricky to put Makol’s performance as Abeer in the good or bad where he seems like he is doing a bad job as Abeer but it is perplexing to understand whether it is the acting that falters or the character is deliberately sketched like that. To no one’s fault, it seems like the final dubbing for the show was done by the actors dueing the lockdown period and at times, the same appears hitting you right in the ears. Several characters enunciate a lot more than they have performed on-screen and it gets distracting at a few instances.
  • Subtlety loses its importance too fast in the show, where you might initially applaud the subtle hints and writing excellence but that gets lost when those things are spelled out later. For instance, when it is shown that a judge who chose to drive the car because his PUC was expired goes on to plan a ploy to hide his son’s crime is thrown upon and spelled by Vashisht’s character of Kiran later.
Positive Reviews:
  • Needless to say, while the plot is what it says above but things get unexpectedly but rather inevitably intertwined in what is a suspense drama disguised to question your morality. One of the many things that keep go well for the show is the performances by the names you usually expect from. Mita Vashisht is fabulous as Kiran, a cop who is struggling to attain the work-life balance while Varun Badola, even though not in every frame or every scene is always reliable as Kashi, a CRPF officer. A surprise of sorts is in the form of actor Richa Pallod, who we rarely see on the screen but is impressive as Kashi’s wife. However, it is the main man Shergill himself that takes the cake for holding the show tight and rolling for twelve long episodes. The show intends to have you question yet empathize with the scrupulous judge Khosla and Shergill does the finest job possible.
  • Another factor that impresses is the tightly knit scenes and the many reveals and shocks that come one after the other. On the forefront, it might seem like a rather predictable storyline where one father is trying to do it all to save his son from going to jail but it continues to get murkier and the human side of these ploys come to foray. What is commendable is that the writers realize that even though the leading character is a court judge himself and knows the game better than anybody but becoming the person who he has put behind bars countless times is a different ballgame altogether. He isn’t your Vijay Salgaonkar from Drishyam who has the pitch-perfect plan to commit a crime and somehow manage to make almost no mistake. In fact, he commits mistakes and tumbles several times and his son, Abeer (Pulkit Makol) only makes things worse and worse ahead.

  • Well as the show itself suggest that it is adaptation of an Israeli Series... well its almost a Copy-Paste job. Starting with the Cast... Jimmy Sheirgill steals the show, man this guy has come off as an actor since his role in Machis... some of the supporting cast is ok... Mita Vashisht oes fine job as Police officer. Pulkit Makol plays role of depressed and {at times} dumb teenager, i feel this was a let own and a different actor could have played this role much better. Also, the scene set in Jalandhar-Ludhiana is not right for clash between Punjabi & UP gangwar... it would have been believable if the scene was set in Agra or Eastern Delhi... All and all, ok series ...
  • Story as in trailer looks interesting but let down by sub par execution.Except Jimmy & few others ,most characters are over dramatic or immature.Production design, cinematography & BGM is just average. Screenplay also drags at places & total runtime of 6 hrs, no good dialogues hampers the drama.
  • Director failed to recreate the charishma of Drishyam. Even actor like Jimmy Shergill has also performed averagely. The length is also quite long which tends it to drag often. The manner in which the Police is communicating with a Judge is also very far from the reality. Overall an average series which can be skipped.
  • It is clearly mentioned the series is inspired or remake from he Israel series but it failed to create that thrill and that now so many series are coming up in india you should know the fashion and what Indian viewers want, 12 EPISODES that was so long unnecessary the topic was dragged from here to there you will feel as you are sitting on a giant wheel and you are seeing the views again again from different heights, jimmy shergill was no extra ordinary like jaideep in patal lok mita vashist was very good editing was very poor and the director was lost in between iam sure people will be bored as it is dragged for a plot of 15 minutes.
  • Actually i just got to know about this series from insta feeds, without any hesitation i started watching this series only because of Jimmy Sergil,we all know he is a good actor, one thing personally i didn't like was that boy's acting who played jimmy's son i don't know who was the casting director, his acting was pathetic otherwise it's a good watch with gripping storyline.
  • Feeling sad for actors and performances from talented actors like Jimmy Shergill ,varun badola and many others. Failed screenplay and boring execution of script with idiotic and illogical dialogues and situations as cherry on the top. I will suggest not to waste your time on this one. This show will somewhere check your patience. And special mention to the worst performance by actor pulkit makol as Jimmy's son. His character and performance was highly atrocious.

Inspite of some obvious problems, Your Honor manages to hold you well for the whole runtime of twelve episodes. And while they may seem a tad too much, web shows, as usual, provide you the liberty of taking time off to come back and watch again. You might binge-watch it for a while but you will also need a break from it. The show ends on a cliffhanger and it is only in a possible Season 2 that things shall be revealed.

Where to Watch: Sony Liv
Even though Amazon Prime Video and Netflix are indeed way above in the competition of streamers, multiple platforms are trying their hand at new content with new shows coming in to and fro. Recently we saw, Voot Select have an absolute winner in the form of Asur and relatively good shows in the form of The Raikar Case and Illegal, and now we have, a re-branded and new Sony Liv coming up with its own set.

Review: Tightly Knit, 'Your Honor' Holds You Well But The Shortcomings Are Too Obvious

Your Honor chronicles the life of an honest and upright man, Bishan Khosla, who is to be promoted as a High Court Judge. But fate has different plans when his son gets involved in a hit-and-run case. Caught in the dilemma between family and morality, will the judge in him be able to overrule the system? Witness Bishan’s fall from grace as he uses his wits and knowledge of the law to save his son.

One of the first few offerings from the latest streamer on block (in terms of original programming), Your Honor stars an ensemble cast led by Jimmy Shergill. Adapted from Israeli series Kvodo, Your Honor chronicles the life of an honest and upright man, Bishan Khosla, who is to be promoted as a High Court Judge. But fate has different plans when his son gets involved in a hit-and-run case. Caught in the dilemma between family and morality, will the judge in him be able to overrule the system?
