TOP 10 Bads, Negatives of Diet Drinks And Soda
Beware! Diet Drinks And Soda May Increase The Risk Of Infertility In Couples
Infertility Is A Common Issue Infertility is a common problem that affects millions of couples across the world. PCOS, endometriosis and unhealthy weight gain are some of the most common causes of infertility in women. In men, infertility occurs due to low sperm production, abnormal sperm function or blockages that prevent the delivery of sperm. But some lifestyle factors can also contribute to the problem, such as the regular consumption of diet drinks and sodas. Research has shown that ‘diet’ beverage can lead to pregnancy problems. Diet drinks Sodas May Cause Infertility A study published in the journal, Epidemiology has found that the intake of one or more sugar-sweetened per day can lower your chances of getting pregnant. Researchers said that couples planning a pregnancy should avoid the intake of drinks that contain artificial sweeteners, which are chemical-based, which can have a detrimental effect on your fertility. Other studies have shown that women undergoing fertility treatment found that frequent consumption of the artificial sweeteners commonly found in these beverages decreases the chances of conceiving a child. Harmful Substances In Sodas Various studies have shown that too much consumption of soda increased the risk of infertility in both men and women. As per the studies, men who consume too much soda are at four times higher risk of reducing the sperm count, motility and other parameters that affect fertility. These drinks are also acidic, meaning they can alter the pH of the body, which will worsen fertility. Another harmful substance called aspartame, which is used in most drinks, can alter the proper functioning of the endocrine glands and leads to hormonal imbalances. Since most drinks are high in caffeine can lower menstrual bleeding and free radicals can result in the death of sperm and ovum. Other Harmful Effects Of Soda The high sugar content of soda leads to excessive weight, obesity, etc., which may lead to infertility. It can also cause subfertility, which can increase the risk of ovulation and risk of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Excessive consumption can increase blood sugar levels and can lead to type-2 diabetes, which can harm fertility. Other ways it can affect fertility is by disrupting hormonal levels in the body, having health effects on your gut, bone strength, and more – all of which can lead to infertility. Cut Back On Soda To Mitigate The Risk As per studies, drinking one sugared soda or diet soda in a day can increase your risk of infertility by 20-25 per cent. These adverse effects are not only limited to natural conception but may also have implications if you are pursuing fertility treatments like IUI & IVF. So, avoid drinking soda and switch to healthier options. Include These Foods To Boost Fertility The route to parenthood might be a huge challenge for some couples, but it is not impossible. Along with taking appropriate medication, it is vital to include foods that can increase your fertility. Eat a nutritious and healthy diet, including eating foods rich in antioxidants, fibre, protein, dairy, and multivitamins. You also need to make some healthy lifestyle changes such as exercising regularly, eating a big breakfast, relaxing, cutting back on caffeine and maintaining a healthy weight. Ive been following a basic diet plan as Id like to lose a little weight, not that Im fat just a bit extra weight around the belly. I decided the simple thing to do is to stop drinking fizzy drinks and cut down the sweet foods a lot.
No idea if its working properly but its certainly saving money. Im going to have to start exercising more as I only really walk around work and thats about all, where as a few months ago Id walk to and from work moved house which stops me doing this now. |
