Negative Reviews:
  • However, at certain places, the 9 episodic drama may seem a little predictable and stretched but this can easily be covered up with the brilliant performances and engaging plotline.
  • The Dumbest crime thriller ever seen..Characters not only overacted but not even in sync..Even the vehicles number plates are mismatch as per scenes ..100% Dumb n foolish approach from makers. Sushmita n everyone overrate sri a useless piece of directions..In the series where Elders are dumb children's seems to pretend intelligent ..Utmost Slow and dull with no intelligent stuff from anyone..Fir children's Below 5 years who don't know what actually a crime thriller is and can't be entertained in any way..Total waste of time which I did yesterday..
  • Worst show ever showing physios in poor light. do not encourage a show which shows a profession poorly
  • Well the show released on Hotstar, Was already skeptical of it but well started it for Sushmita Sen. but couldn't pass through the first episode. Pathetic writing. I mean i get it, it takes a lot of hard work to make a show, but atleast do it right.I wish there was option to give less than 1 star. I guess the rating given here are just the cast and crew rating their own show.
  • This is one of the worst Indian web-series I've ever seen. It's boring to say the least. The characters keep on quarreling amongst themselves for no reason. The story just meanders without any conclusive end. I would strongly recommend not to watch this for any reason whatsoever.
Positive Reviews:
  • Did never expect such a great story and storytelling. Some twists just blew my mind. Not comparing with breaking bad but there are similarities as to how much a parent can do to save their family. Brilliant show overall.
  • A story well told, gripping and well maintained. Brilliant performance by Sushmita sen, she nailed it with her acting s****s. She deserves more such roles. Gets bit dragged in some portions but thats avoidable. Overall a good watch
  • If you like "Ozark" series this one is for you. It is absolutely different from ozark and beautiful it in own's way. Sushmita sen & unknown actor really set the bar high. While bollywood films keeps on getting worst, Series are going really redifining the bollywood series.
  • Sushmita Sen has been a delight to watch once again back on the screen. In the entire 9 epiodes crime-mystery drama, her presence has been engaging backed up with the sense of a panache and the magnificent stroke of brilliance.
  • What makes the story even more appealing is the absolute convincing acting portrayed by all the characters. Chandrachur Singh, Namit Das and Sikandar Kher have taken us into their life of dealing with business of illegal activities surrounded by dangerous people with utmost perfection.
  • The story and plots are fresh compare to all other similar series like family man, pataal lok, Mirzapur etc. Well written and very good direction with lots of twists and thrills all over the series. Everybody acted very well but Sushmita Sen has overshadowed everyone with her brilliant mind blowing performance. No nepotism only talent speaks here, so support this kind of content. Watched a very good crime drama Hindi series after a long long time. Became a fan of Sen after this series and eagerly waiting for second part.

Default Star Cast

Sushmita was born in the Bengali-speaking Sen family on November 19, 1975 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. Her family consists of her dad, Shubeer, a former Indian Air Force Wing Commander; mom, Subhra, Jewelry Designer and owner of a Dubai-based store. She has two siblings, a sister named Neelam, who is married to Nauman Malik, and a brother named Rajeev. Subhra's dad was a poet.

She attended different schools in Jorhat, and Nagpur, but spend the majority of her schooling days in the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute and Air Force Silver School in Delhi. She was regarded as a tomboy and spent most of her times with boys. Since the schools were Hindi medium, she could not speak English until she was 16 years of age. She subsequently not only mastered English, but became an English Honors student, and also obtained a degree in Journalism. Due to her place of birth she can speak Urdu flawlessly.

Her first public appearance was at the Air Force Club Contest at the age of 15. She did a few fashion shows thereafter. Then during 1994 she decided to be a participant in Miss India beauty pageant, fully aware that she was being pitted against the reigning favorite, Aishwarya Rai. Sushmita took everyone by surprise when she was crowned Miss India while Aishwarya had to content with being the First Runner-up. Both beauties went on to win Miss Universe and Miss World titles respectively. Ironically the final outfit for Miss Universe for Sushmita was made by a little-known Meena Bazar tailor, and her mom.

It was during 1996 that she first appeared as herself in a Bollywood movie titled 'Dastak'. Though the movie did not fare too well, she was noticed and thus began her career on the silver screen. She has since then portrayed herself in a variety of characters and also some 'item' numbers.

Not considered a classic beauty and leading quite an unconventional lifestyle she ended up in many relationships but did not marry anyone. She wanted to be a mother and to adopt a baby girl, and name her Renee. Since she is single, she had to fight a Court battle before she could finally adopt Renee. Finally on 13 April 2000 she was given the go-ahead to adopt her, even though the family-owned business in Dubai was already re-named as 'Renee' quite ironically a year earlier on 13 April 1999.

Default Not Sushmita Sen, But Kajol was the First Choice for Aarya; Here’s Why Kajol Walked Out

While fans are excited and elated to witness Sushmita Sen back on the screens, here’s a piece of trivia. Not Sushmit, but Kajol was the first choice for Ram Madhvani’s Aarya. Full story below...

Sushmita Sen is making her much-awaited comeback with Ram Madhvani’s crime drama web series titled Aarya, that is slated to release on 19 June 2020. Based on the Dutch drama series Penoza by Pieter Bart Korthuis, the show will premiere on Disney + Hotstar VIP.

The trailer released last week and received rave reviews from the audience and the critics. While fans are excited and elated to witness Sushmita back on the screens, here’s a piece of trivia. Not Sushmit, but Kajol was the first choice for Ram Madhvani’s Aarya.

Reportedly, Kajol had even liked the story and given a nod, but later walked out of the project. “Kajol was his first choice and they were in advanced talks with the actress for the film. She had loved the concept and the storyline but had to step out last minute citing personal issues. That had also put Ram's dream project under a bit of a scanner since it delayed the process a bit” Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying.

After Kajol declined the project, Ram offered the web series to Sushmita Sen, who thought of it as the perfect project to mark her comeback. "Aarya has the female lead playing the central protagonist and he wanted someone who has a commanding screen presence and is also a terrific performer. That's when he thought of Sush and offered it to her. Among the many offers that she had, Sushmita liked this the most and then, it was decided that it would be made into a digital series with Hotstar coming on board. Sush did take her time but eventually gave a green signal to Ram” adds the source.

Previously, Ram Madhvani directed Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja, that received critical as well as commercial acclaim.
