10 Unknown Facts, Interesting Facts:
This film is based on the historic decision of demonetisation taken by the Indian government on 8th Nov 2016

Negative Reviews:
  • Had high expectations from Anurag Kashyap and was waiting for this movie but he disappointed badly. This movie could've been so great but failed miserably. If you've watched the trailer that enough, you've watched the movie. There's no other element, script is weak, performance of actors is not upto the mark, direction is okayish. This is certainly Anurag Kashyap's lowest point in this entire career.
  • After seeing the trailer people were dam exited to see the thrill as it showed currencies pop up, Demonetisations, But the real movie is far away from the trailer...it is very slow...there is nothing called thrill it's just ordinary simple story. The ending created some spice but it ended without any justification. No bad words no *** is this Anurag k..??? The direction was also very general. Actors also played normal. I think he lost in his own story. Very highly disappointed.
  • Choked. Anurag Kashyap.2020 The film movie ever made keeping the illustrious "Demonetization" in the main plot. The film has exceedingly well written first half, neatly expressed empathy between the couple, chemistry with inquisitive neighbors but somehow it misses the mark at the very end. The last 15 minutes of the film looks more like a patch then a proper fulfillment to a well-made thriller. Saiyami Kher is excellent in her role as a disappointed, vulnerable and ambitious bank employee. Choked runs heavily on the traditional background score but in some places it airs a tad loud. Choked metaphorically means various things in the film from corruption to a not so happy relationship and from doomed future to current condition of the country. This film might get an extremely polar reviews for some of its political stand and approach against the current government. It's an extremely well sanitized and different version of Kashyap.
  • Pros: Screenplay: Tight lengthy camera shots and background score, helps in tension building; Actors: Sayami Kher is expressive and talented, does justice to the role of working middle class women.
Cons: Ending seems hurried up and not well-written.
Verdict: If Considered a micro-budget movie shot in 25 days for OTT its good; but not of the stature of Anurag Kashyap's other works; 7/10
  • Choked is a unique kind of movie directed by Anurag Kashyap. With demonetization as a backdrop, Choked explores the power struggle at every level - including those who belongs to middle-class.
It's all about dreams and aspiration of a middle class Maharashtrian family. The performance were good, but not great. The movie could have been much stronger with more tight screenplay. Choked is smart, but not smart enough that mildly satisfied the depth and struggles of a middle-class family.
Choked had much higher expectation, being an Anurag Kashyap film. But the movie had just enough qualities and moments that didn't disappointed.
    My Rating : 3/5
  • Choked doesn’t quite live up to its premise: it has some fine elements, but the connective tissue that binds it all together is a weak stretch.
  • The connection between slush money and a sludgy drain-pipe is dirty and delicious. And the portrait of a marriage going bust is the strongest part of the film: Kher’s permanent state of slate-eyed impatience with her husband, who owes large sums of cash to a dodgy type (Limaye) has real weight, much more than a past mistake as a participant in a singing contest that keeps haunting her: that last bit, which gives the film part of its name, doesn’t mesh in the proceedings well enough.
  • In last few years after Gangs of Wasseypur, Anurag Kashyap has gone from Good to Worst way of making films. The movie was going nowhere from start till end and it's an utter waste of time. The only silver lining about this movie is that this movie is being released on Netflix so you don't end by spending extra bucks.
  • A director plays an important role how a film is. He is captain of the Ship. A story can be a good or bad. But when comes to Anurag he can make a good story worse and if the story is already worse then what to say! I don't who are the producers who hire Aurag to direct their movies. He has 0 knowledge about movies. All the thing Anurag can do is just talk.
  • Anurag Kashyap has ruthlessly misutilized the platform to spew venom against our honourable prime minister NaMo under false and stupid cover of Demonetisation.
This piece of nonsense is dripping leftism, sheer exaggeration, alarmingly misleading and thoroughly biased.
Feel like to sue Mr. Kashyap for gulping my costly hour and leaving me with utter disturbance, I pledge to not watch anything ever that's even remotely connected to this terrible Director.

  • Other loose ends hang. The background music is overdone. The plot doesn’t come together, with it’s thriller-like tone slipping and sliding, dipping especially when we see long lines of desperate people trying to change their old cash into new. A mysterious old lady takes a sneaky picture of our bank teller, but the payoff doesn’t have weight. And so on.
  • Given Kashyap’s s****-sets of melding the real with the bizarre, the twisted with the straight, this money heist had the potential to be a real zinger. The medley of nursery rhymes (akkad bakkad, nani teri morni) playing over the end credits has the kind of savage tinge this tale of ‘kaala dhan and saaf log’ should have had running right through. But not enough bite here.
  • It’s the kind of thing most of us dream about: having a stream of cash fetch up in our sweaty paws from seemingly nowhere, and the promise of more. It would be manna for anyone, but it’s especially so when you have your back against the wall, plodding through a joyless job, and a marriage from which all the fun has leached out. What happens in Sarita Sahasrabuddhe’s life, when a plumbing disaster in her kitchen leads to an unexpected windfall?
  • Such an intriguing premise. And a set of characters so realistically spelling out middle-class Mumbai, all of whom live in a building, in a swelter of crabby camaraderie and well-meaning gossip: bank teller Sarita (Kher), jobless, debt-ridden husband Sushant (Mathew), and a young son buffeted between the constantly bickering couple; the matronly, affectionate Sharvari Tai (Subhash) whose daughter is on the verge of getting hitched; a nosey neighbour (Deshpande), and a feckless fellow who is always diving into easy-money schemes, and getting his hapless wife to bail him out.

Positive Reviews:
  • Choked might not be up there with the filmmaker’s finest, but it’s his most unusual movie since No Smoking — and it most certainly fulfils its duty and performs the Heimlich on a streamer that is gasping for air after a string of back-to-back blunders.
  • Choked doesn’t have the slapdash appearance of a lot of Kashyap’s earlier work; instead it feels positively meticulous in its structure. The importance of music, however, is just as pronounced here as it has ever been in any film that the director has made. Karsh Kale’s jazzy, percussion-driven score is sublime.
  • Anurag Kashyap has once again portrayed the struggle of public in the days following the mindless decision of demonetization. Long unending queues outside banks, bank employees working overtime to cater to thankless, frustrated public and the consequences that impacted all of us.
Saiyami Kher has played her part superbly. Well done Kashyap and team.

WikiNewForum.com Review:
Netflix Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai, made on the background of demonetization, focuses on the ups and downs of the relationship.

When Prime Minister Modi brings demonetization on 8 November 2016 in the film, the story takes a different pace.

The film's story is served with a historical judgment of relationship and demonetization. This film refreshes the memories associated with the 2016 note ban.

Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai also emphasizes that the effect was thought about demonetization. Did not happen as they believe.

Even middle-class families were emotionally ****ed here. The black money holders managed to keep it in the new note as well.

It is a smart film written by Nihit Bhave that concerns itself with more than the cause.

The film is initially complicated. But the way the film's story is presented. She keeps you tied However, the film's climax remains weak. Looking at the film, it seems like he had to finish in a hurry.

There is a lack of clarity and sharpness for which Anurag Kashyap is known.

Netflix Choked wants to say a lot but is not as hard-hitting or too entertaining as its tweets.

Saiyami Kher can save this film in terms of acting. She has been great. Her role is powerful, which she has played well.

However, the character of Saiyami repeatedly goes back to her past, which affects the pace of the film. But this is not her fault.

Roshan Mathew is well in his character Sushant. Many times his role gets angry at seeing his character, which shows his quality as an actor. This young actor has an impressive personality and speaking eyes.

Amrita Subhash's work is also good. However, she is inconsistent as it is warm and swells in parts. The character of Rajshri Deshpande is worth watching.

As I have already said, you will not see the original Anurag Kashyap, but the way the story is captured is fantastic. He has shown the middle-class in Mumbai very well.

The film's dialogues are strong, and many conversations lighten the mood of the film.

Overall Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai is an engaging film. Despite some faults, the film is successful in entertaining you, so you can give your time to watch it.
