One of the worst pandemics hit the world in 2020, and during such tough times of toxicity, one needed a solid morale boost. While many resorted to making funny videos, short films, reading, meditation, there were a few who took an oath of staying fit by shedding the excessive kilos they had put on. Kapil Sharma, Shehnaaz Gill are a few names, who motivated their fans to stay fit this year. Spare a read:

Punjabi singer-actress Shehnaaz Gill lost tremendous weight during the lockdown. After making an exit from the Bigg Boss 13 house, she worked on her physique and bid adieu to the extra 12 kgs in less than 6 months. Speaking about her weight loss, Shehnaaz had exclusively told Times of India, "I went in for a simple reduction in my eating habits. You can say that I cut off on my non-vegetarian food, chocolates and ice cream and nothing else. But besides that, let me explain how I ate because therein lies the catch. Every day, I ate just one or two things. I wouldn't stuff too much variety in my daily consumption of food. For example, if I ate dal and moong for lunch, I would eat the same for dinner. And I reduced the portions. If I was hungry for two rotis, I ate only one. Mann maarke khati thi. And it started working. I was 67 kg around the time lockdown began in March, I am 55 kg now." Shehnaz continued, "Lost 12 kg in less than 6 months, but without doing any exercise. Just my restricted food consumption did the trick."

03/10Kapil Sharma


The Kapil Sharma Show's host-comedian-actor Kapil burnt 11 kilos during the lockdown. He was seen sharing videos of him working out by running on the treadmill, rope squat pulls and lifting weights. In one of the videos, Kapil stated that he was of 92 kgs initially and now is 81 kgs only. Kapil receives compliments from his actor guests on the show.



04/10Kashmera Shah


The actress, who has always been known for having a fit body, had gained close to 13-14 kg in the last few years. She utilised the lockdown period to lose the extra-gained weight and successfully shredded 13 kilos. In an interview with TOI, she said, "I started my diet and workout regime from January 7th. But when the lockdown started from March 21st I went into depression and I lost more weight. I got so worried because I was getting the diet food from outside and because of the lockdown it was all going to stop. I started eating less because of the fear that whatever I have achieved in those three months will go waste now. Then two months passed and then luckily in June-July the diet food supply again started. I remember I had shared a post also that time that sometimes you don't believe how small things give you happiness. I went back to dieting so my body got used to having less food, one kind of workout regime and discipline. Because of all this my discipline came back."

Monalisa is extremely happy about her transformation and reveals that she has lost 7 kgs during the lockdown, "I lost 7 kgs and I feel so good about myself. I can wear all my dresses and people are complimenting me. People, fans are asking me to share my diet routine with them. It feels great," said the actress. Monalisa shared her diet and workout routine that she followed to lose those extra kilos, "I do Yoga and meditation regularly. I did planks, I watched videos on the internet and did cardio for 45 minutes to 1 hour regularly. We would workout everyday. I followed a strict diet to keep my immunity strong and lose weight also. I am still continuing my diet, and haven't stopped. I feel 70 percent it is diet and 30 percent exercise," revealed the actress.

Krushna Abhishek also lost weight along with wife Kashmera Shah. In the interview, Kashmera said that she had started cooking healthy food during the lockdown, which helped Krushna also in losing weight.



07/10Arti Singh


Ever since she came out of the Bigg Boss 13 house, Arti Singh has been working out at home, and lost 8 kgs. "I am into 50 minutes of yoga and 40 minutes of brisk walking every alternate day. And definitely the biggest fight between all the exercises has been the late night cravings," said Arti. The actress is an emotional eater and gained 8 kgs inside the Bigg Boss house.

Gangu bai aka Saloni Daini, who is now 19 years old, lost 22 kgs and turned out to be an inspiration for everyone. Saloni said that she would receive hurtful comments on her weight. She would laugh at them away but sometimes it also made her feel low. But she knew only working towards her goal and not thinking about such people is what will help her. The actress put all the hard work and utilised the lockdown to transform herself. She has set an example and motivated other people who are facing weight issues.
