Jr NTR's Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu postponed to June?

The premiere of Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu, the Telugu version of the popular TV series 'Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?', is most likely to be postponed to June, reports suggest. The show, which was expected to entertain from the last week of May, is now postponed due to reasons unknown. The surge in COVID-19 cases is also expected to be one of the reasons behind the postponement, as per sources. However, the pre-production activity of the show is in progress. The channel airing the show has been teasing fans with questions and promos of the show. Fans on social media have been asking the channel to launch the show at the earliest.

The fifth edition of the show in Telugu was launched on March 13 introducing Jr NTR as the host. If insider reports are to be believed, Jr NTR is charging over Rs 7 crore as remuneration for the upcoming season. Close sources reveal that the show will have a run of over 60 episodes in the season. Interestingly, Jr NTR is making his TV comeback with this show after nearly four years. Notably, Nagarjuna has received around Rs. 4.5 crore as remuneration for the last season of Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu. He has hosted three seasons of the show in Telugu before Chiranjeevi succeeded him as the host. However, Chiranjeevi, who has hosted the fourth season of Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, has apparently charged Rs. 9 crore, much higher than Nagarjuna and Jr NTR.

Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu has welcomed Hyderabad-based specially-abled homemaker Swetha Lakkaraju as the first contestant of the season.
Swetha took everyone by surprise when she took the lifeline ‘Audience poll’ for her 3rd question on a popular Telugu proverb.

Q. Complete this Telugu proverb: Tanu chedda kothi ____ antha cherichinattu
A. Vanam B. Illu C. Veedhi D. Vaakili

Swetha chose to go for a lifeline and gave the right answer (A. Vanam). She added that she didn’t want to take chance as she was confused between options A and C.

However, her journey on the show concluded with the 10th question on Bangladesh leader Sheikh Hasina. Jr NTR tried to guide her to choose the right answer but she couldn’t.

She gave a wrong answer despite taking yet another lifeline ‘50-50’. She walked away winning Rs. 10000 on the show. Swetha was the first contestant to make it to the hot seat after cracking the fastest finger round. Her aim was to win the highest prize money and help the destitute and the specially-abled community.

Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu: IITian Duggepogu Sunny takes lifelines for simple questions on Lord Vishnu and Googly in cricket; empties two out of three lifelines




Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu has kicked off on a high note with a grand two-part curtain-raiser featuring Ram Charan as the special guest.
The recent episode saw Duggepogu Sunny, who is currently doing his undergraduate program in IIT Chennai, as the second contestant of the season. Notably, Sunny is just six questions old in the show and he has taken two out of the three lifelines available. Interestingly, he has taken his first lifeline on his very second question – In Hindu mythology, which of these is one of the names of Vishnu?

The options were A. Hari B. Shankara C. Bhairava D. Neelakantha
Sunny opted for ‘Video call a friend’ lifeline and answered with the help of his mother’s colleague.

It didn’t take much time for Sunny to take his second lifeline on a question on the popular sport cricket.

Sunny opted for 'Audience poll' and answered the question. Sunny replied that he doesn’t watch or follow cricket which might be one of the reasons for not knowing the answer.

Sunny is set to take his 6th question in the game before the episode concluded. This IITian aims to buy land with the prize money he wins in the show and start organic farming. He is working on minimalizing water wastage in farming.

The show welcomed Swetha Lakkaraju as the first contestant of the season and her journey concluded at the 10th question after winning Rs. 10000.
