Chokher Bali

Chokher Bali (literally translated to "sand in the eye", figuratively to "constant irritant") (Bengali: চোখের বালি) is a Bengali film based on the novel Chokher Bali by Rabindranath Tagore.

http://photogallery.indiatimes.com/c...okher-Bali.jpg

It was directed by Rituparno Ghosh in 2003 and stars Prasenjit as Mahendra, Aishwarya Rai as Binodini and Raima Sen as Ashalata. Ashalata and Binodini refer to each other as Chokher Bali. The other major characters are played by Lily Chakravarty (as Rajlakshmi, Mahendra's mother) and Tota Roy Chowdhury (as Behari, Rajlakshmi's adopted son). The film was later dubbed into Hindi and was released internationally under that language.

Plot
The book, Binodini, is the story of a young woman, who is left to her own devices when her sickly husband dies soon after they are married. She returns to her village and lives there for a couple of months until she sees one of her relations passing by there on her way to somewhere else.

Binodini hails the woman and the two soon agree that it would be best if Binodini came to live with the woman and her son, Mahendra (who, by the way, was one of the first to see Binodini's photo when she was unwed and up for grabs yet refused her on account of his being "unready for marriage"). When the two arrive the woman's son and his new bride are in the throes of passion, constantly sneaking off to be alone together.

This infatuation does not last long, however, Mahendra soon begins to see that his wife's friend, Binodini, is more his type. The story details the lives of these three and Mahendra's best friend as they deal with certain issues as distrust, adultery, lies, and numerous fallings-out between them. The movie correctly depicts what Tagore so s****fully wrote and is a sad, stirring tale of the deceit and sorrow that come from being unsatisfied and unhappy. A masterstroke of Tagore - it potrays a story of the rebellious Bengali widow, with independent thinking - so unimaginable in parts of even today's India.

Plot
Dil Ka Rishta is about a young man named Jai (Arjun Rampal). He is very wealthy and supports many charities. One day, he accompanies his friend Anita (Ishaa Koppikar) to a school for the deaf. There, he meets Tia (Aishwarya Rai), a teacher, and falls in love with her. He helps her wherever he can and tries to be near her—and he believes that Tia feels something for him, too. When he finally admits his feelings, Tia reveals the existence of her fiancÚ, whom she finally marries and has a son with named Anshu.

Jai is devastated, since several attempts to win over Tia's heart, fail. One night, being completely drunk, he drives home and causes an accident: Anita, who was with Jai in the car, dies immediately and so does Raj (Priyanshu Chatterjee), Tia's husband, who happens to be the driver of the other car. Tia herself survives but loses her memory. The doctors believe that Tia will not be able to handle the return of her memories and advise Tia's mother (Raakhee) to move her daughter to a place where nothing reminds her of her past. Jai wants to look after Tia (since he is responsible for her condition) and offers to take Tia and her mother to South Africa where they can live with him.

Tia's mother accepts for Tia's sake—she hates Jai for taking away her son-in-law and her daughter's memories. Tia is told that the boy who is coming with them is Jai's and Anita's son; but he is really Raj's and Tia's son. Tia is told that Anshu loves his "aunt" very much and that she should look after the boy so he won't miss his mother too much.

In Africa, Jai lives with Tia, Tia's mother and Anshu under one roof. Tia's mother realizes Tia's emerging feelings for Jai and warns him not to do something inappropriate. Jai looks after Tia, but whenever she is trying to get close to him, he takes his distance. Even as Jai's father (Paresh Rawal) tries to matchmake the two of them, Jai refuses her—even though he loves her more than anything else.

Finally Tia's mother accepts the fact her daughter is in love with Jai and agrees: they can get married. When Tia looks for Jai's approval, things get out of control. Tia flees and Jai follows her: after a car-chase sequence they have a fight. The truth is revealed: Anshu is Tia's son and she has a dead husband.

Jai's father, who has finally arrived with Tia's mother, explains that Jai is very much in love with Tia, but he hopes (out of guilt) that she regains her memory and punishes him for what he did: ****ing her husband in the car accident.

Instead of a punishment, Tia forgives Jai, telling him that the past is gone and she cannot remember it anyway. She decides to leave Jai and takes her son with her in order to not burden Jai anymore. Jai stops her: He wants to be a father for Anshu, tells her that he loves her and asks her to marry him. Tia accepts and they get their happy ending.

Plot

Happy American bachelor Raj (Abhishek Bachchan) reluctantly attends his cousin's wedding in Mumbai where he finds himself pushed towards marriage by his overzealous uncle (Satish Shah). His uncle's employee, Namrata (Aishwarya Rai), begrudgingly chaperones Raj on a series of set-ups that he deliberately sabotages. Eventually on one of these dates, Raj watches Namrata dancing and realizes he loves her. He finally gets the strength to tell her, but to his surprise he discovers she has a son, Aditya, and is already married.

Raj is confused, but forms a strong fatherly relationship with her son anyway. His uncle informs him that Namrata's husband disappeared right before Aditya's birth; although Namrata is still technically married, Raj takes heart. Soon enough, however, she finds out about Raj's feelings. In turmoil, she attempts to distance herself from him, knowing they can never be together. Nevertheless, Raj follows her to Aditya's boarding school, having promised the boy to pose as his father. While Raj drives Namrata home, he sarcastically comments that her circumstances must have been her fault. Upset, she tells Raj that her husband was the one that left her for another woman whilst she was pregnant. Eventually Namrata comes round and they both get together.

Raj is about to introduce Namrata to his mother, but just as she is about to leave for the party her husband Sanjeev (Arbaaz Khan) walks back into her life to begin where they left off. She does not want anything to do with him, but she grudgingly takes him back even though she is now in love with Raj. After a chance meeting with Sanjeev, Raj invites Sanjeev to his cousin's wedding. Adi also comes and goes straight to Raj and calls him "Dad." Sanjeev, jealous and angry, insults Raj and his family and creates a scene at the wedding. Bride and Prejudice

Bride and Prejudice is a 2004 romantic musical film directed by Gurinder Chadha. The screenplay by Chadha and Paul Mayeda Berges is a Bollywood-style adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It was filmed primarily in English, with some Hindi and Punjabi dialogue.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...prejudice.jpeg
Plot
The plot closely follows the plot of Pride and Prejudice, with many elements compacted to brief references. Some character names remain the same, while others are changed slightly, using localized names with similar pronunciation (such as Lalita for Lizzy).

Set in Amritsar, the story follows Lalita Bakshi, a young woman living with her doting father, her mother determined to marry off her daughters to respectable men and her three sisters, Jaya, Maya, and Lakhi. At a friend's pre-wedding party, Lalita meets William Darcy, a handsome and wealthy American businessman working in the hotel business. He has arrived in Amritsar for two weeks with his long-time friend, the barrister Balraj, and Balraj's sister Kiran, who constantly flirts with an oblivious Will. Will, however, shows interest in Lalita, but she considers him to be self-absorbed, and resists his advances. Balraj and Jaya fall quickly in love, much to the delight of Jaya's mother, who wants her daughters to marry rich men. During a friend's wedding, Will and Lalita argue and Lalita labels him arrogant and proud with a mind closed to Indian culture. When Balraj invites Jaya and a reluctant Lalita to visit Goa with him, his sister Kiran, and Will, Lalita and Will argue further. On their last night in Goa, Lalita meets Johnny Wickham, a handsome young man from London whose mother was Will's nanny and who used to caddy for Will's father. Lalita recognises the negative vibes between Will and Johnny. According to Johnny, he was fired by Will right after Mr Darcy Sr. died, a story Lalita immediately believes as it fit with the bad impression she has of Will already. Lalita and Johnny hope to meet again; she invites him to Amritsar and he invites her to London.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Bakshi has invited a distant relative of the family named Kholi who has a business in Los Angeles and wishes to marry an Indian girl. He is initially attracted by Jaya but after telling Kholi that she is practically engaged to someone else, Mrs. Bakshi steers him towards Lalita. That night, Jaya, Maya and Lakhi tease Lalita by singing about her marriage to Kholi and having to deal with his sloppy eating and unattractive habits, making reference to his saying, "No life without wife". Lalita then daydreams of marrying Wickham but this turns into a nightmare when Darcy enters the picture.

Johnny arrives surprisingly on the doorstep of the Bakshis to see Lalita. Despite Mrs Bakshi's suspicions of Johnny being a hippy, Mr Bakshi lets him stay and invites him to a dance that night, much to the delight of Lalita and her sister Lakhi, who is immediately attracted to Johnny. At the dance, Lalita and Johnny show much chemistry to the dismay of Will, who is slowly falling in love with her. She rejects his advances and his warning to not "believe everything she hears". Mrs Bakshi invites Will, Balraj and Kiran to dinner and Lalita and Jaya are embarrassed by Maya's snake dance and their mother's jokes and taunts about marriage. Kiran tries to warn Lalita that she shouldn't fall for Wickham's "bullshit" but Lalita cuts Kiran off and ignores her because she is Darcy's friend.

Kholi proposes to Lalita the next morning but Lalita refuses. Mrs Bakshi is distraught and refuses to talk to her unless she marries Kholi whereas her father says he will never speak to her again if she does. After Kholi leaves embarrassed and angry, Balraj arrives saying he is leaving a week early with Will and Kiran, leaving Jaya heartbroken. Lakhi then informs the family that Chandra (Lalita's best friend) has accepted a proposal from Kholi and they are to have a big American wedding in L.A after a small temple ceremony in Amritsar.

Johnny then tells Lalita he has to leave and return to London, leaving both Lalita and Lakhi upset. In secret, Lakhi and Johnny begin emailing whilst neither Balraj nor Johnny contacts Jaya or Lalita. Kholi and Chandra call to invite them to their wedding in Los Angeles, sending four tickets. Lalita, Jaya, Lakhi and Mrs Bakshi stop over in London to see Balraj, staying in Southall with relatives, but Kiran (who had taken an immediate dislike to the family) tells them that Balraj is in New York with their parents "looking for some girls". As the family leave from Heathrow for the wedding, they meet Will returning home after a meeting in London. After swapping his seat in first class with Mrs Bakshi, he and Lalita bond and discuss why Balraj never contacted Jaya and why Wickham hasn't called either.
They arrive in L.A. The Bakshis are shown around Kholi and Chandra's new, luxurious house and Chandra explains to Lalita that she isn't romantic but wanted the safety and security of Kholi's business and money and Lalita accepts Chandra's happiness. The Bakshis visit one of the Darcys hotels where the wedding is taking place and meet Darcy's mother, who Lalita stands up to, and his younger sister Georgie, who has heard of Lalita's beautiful guitar playing from Will.

http://photogallery.indiatimes.com/c...-Prejudice.jpg

Will and Lalita start to get closer and go on dates, including a helicopter visit to the spectacular Grand Canyon. However at Kholi and Chandra's wedding, Will's mother introduces her to Will's "girlfriend" Anne from New York, shocking and upsetting Lalita. Things are worsened when Georgie says (without realising how Lalita is involved in this) that Will persuaded Balraj to not marry or contact Jaya as he thought Mrs Bakshi was a gold-digger and was pressuring Jaya too much. Lalita is furious even when Darcy proclaims he loves her and storms off vowing never to speak to him again.

Will tries to apologise and explain but Kholi informs him that the family is on their way to London. Meanwhile, back in London, Lakhi sneaks off to see Wickham and leaves a note for her family. After a day and still no return of Lakhi, Will arrives in London where the Bakshis are staying. He apologises sincerely and tells Lalita the truth: he had thought Mrs Bakshi was pressuring Jaya too much and that neither Jaya nor Balraj was ready for marriage, and, that Wickham is a liar and a bad man as he attempted to impregnate Georgie when she was 16 to gain the Darcys' money. Knowing he will do the same with Lakhi, the two go out to save her; they end up saving Lahki and defeating Wickham after tracking them down to a theater. Will beats Wickham in a fistfight, and both Lalita and Lakhi slap Wickham in disgust.

They return to the house they find that Balraj and Jaya are engaged. Will and Lalita realise their love when Mrs Bakshi asks Balraj if he has any cousins for Lalita to marry. Back in India, Darcy surprises Lalita by joining in the traditional drumming, showing his newfound awareness of Indian culture, and the two embrace. The film ends with the double wedding of Will and Lalita and Balraj and Jaya as they ride on elephants down the colourful, vibrant streets of Amritsar.

Khakee

Khakee is a 2004 Indian movie directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Aishwarya Rai, Tusshar Kapoor, Atul Kulkarni, Tanuja and Jayapradha. Lara Dutta made a special appearance in the song "Aisa jadoo".

http://photogallery.indiatimes.com/c...199/Khakee.jpg
Plot
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anant Shrivastav (Amitabh Bachchan) is assigned to escort accused terrorist Iqbal Ansari (Atul Kulkarni) from Chandangarh to Mumbai, so that he may appear in court. A terrorist organization seems determined to free him. The organization is led by Yashwant Angre (Ajay Devgan), a ruthless ****er and a former police officer. DCP Anant's team consists of Senior Inspector Shekhar Verma (Akshay Kumar), rookie Inspector Ashwin Gupte (Tusshar Kapoor) and a few constables. Soon Mahalakshmi (Aishwarya Rai) joins them, as she is the only witness to have seen Angre.

The team is armed and ready to go, but danger lurks everywhere as the terrorists are determined to make sure the police team does not make it to Mumbai. The mission turns into a battle for survival when the team is attacked at various points during the journey. When the team reaches an abandoned cottage in a forest en route, there is another shoot-out and the team finds itself heavily outnumbered. Against Anant and Ashwin's judgment, Shekhar tries to force an exchange of Ansari in return for their lives. At this point, Ansari breaks down and reveals that the terrorists are not planning on freeing him, but instead on ****ing him. He goes on to reveal a corrupt world involving the police and politicians, and how he was framed when he threatened to expose it. At this point, Shekhar's intentions change and he plans an escape from the cottage. The plan is successful and they manage to get out and get Ansari—who is injured in the encounter with the terrorists—to a nearby hospital in the fictitious city of Nairoli. And due to a slip-up by ACP Naidu, who is DCP Anant's senior, Anant figures out that he was the mole leaking out information about their whereabouts to the terrorists.

At this point, Minister Deodhar, the politician controlling the terrorists, and ACP Naidu come up with a plan to turn citizens against the police team by declaring in a press conference that the police team had gone rogue and is now protecting Ansari on the directions of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence. Seeing the news on TV, several locals gather at the hospital and threaten to barge inside. DCP Anant confronts them and urges them to have faith in his team, and not go by what they hear on TV.
The police team then commissions a train to take them from Nairoli railway station to Mumbai. However, once again the terrorists arrive at the station and there is another shoot-out. The cops manage to get Ansari on board the train, but constable Kamlesh dies trying to divert the attention of the terrorists.

After reaching Mumbai, Ansari is again taken to a hospital, where he is declared dead. This is a severe jolt to the efforts and reputation of DCP Anant's team. However, at this point, they manage to unearth another piece of evidence against Deodhar and ACP Naidu—a file containing incriminating details against them, hidden away by a now-dead journalist in a locker in Mumbai's General Post Office. Shekhar and Mahalakshmi manage to find the file, but are again confronted by Angre while leaving.

Shekhar gives the file to Mahalakshmi and asks her to take it to DCP Anant, and engages Angre and his men to allow her to escape. At this point, it turns out that Mahalakshmi is actually an agent of the terrorists, and was sent in order to leak the cops' plans to them. Mahalakshmi ****s Shekhar, who believed she was in love with him—but not before exposing Mahalakshmi's reality to DCP Anant, unbeknownst to her and Angre. This ****** angers Anant, and he and his team hunt down Angre by following Mahalakshmi, and capture him after a fight. Mahalakshmi is ****ed during the encounter, when Angre uses her as a protective shield against the gunfire. The police are also able to retrieve the file indicting Deodhar.

Armed with compelling evidence in the form of the file, the court is able to convict Angre, Deodhar, and ACP Naidu. The movie ends with Inspector Ashwin shooting Angre dead in a fake encounter while transporting him to jail.
