Apple iOS 14 leaked screenshot shows new wallpaper settings and home screen appearanc

Apple iOS 14, the next version of mobile operating system for iPhone, is not expected to debut until June. However, the leaks so far indicate that it will be a major revamp. Since the release of the iPhone in 2007, the iOS has largely remained the same in terms of appearance. With every release, Apple has added new features while staying true to its look and feel. This year, we might see Apple shun the existing design and make iOS modern and easier to use. There are big changes being planned for the home screen appearance this time.

Apple iOS 14: What to expect

Last month, a report from 9to5Mac said that Apple is working on a redesigned wallpaper settings panel. The report based on an early build of Apple iOS 14 includes images separated by categories and more. Now, Twitter user DongleBookPro has shared posted screenshots that show this new wallpaper settings panel in action. It shows default wallpapers separated by collections that include “Classic Stripes”, “Earth & Moon”, and “Flowers”. Apple iOS 14 will show wallpapers in the form of a collection.

This should be better than seeing all wallpapers together at once. It should also make it easier to find wallpaper from a specific collection. The screenshot of Apple iOS 14 also reveals a new “Home Screen Appearance” option. This is likely to be similar to the watch face settings on the Apple Watch app. When enabled, the users will have the option to define a smart dynamic wallpaper that will only be used on their home screen. The dynamic wallpapers will include a flat color, a blurry one and even a dark version based on current wallpaper.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is also working on a new feature internally referred to as “Avocado”. It is said to be related to the Springboard app, which controls the home screen. The leaked Apple iOS 14 code suggests that the iPhone maker is working towards real widgets on the home screen. Instead of pinned widgets added with iPadOS 13, Apple will lets users move the widgets just like any other app. It is still said to be in works and might get s****ped by the company. However, this feature makes sense with this revamped wallpaper interface and we can’t wait to try this out.
