Bollywood Film Reviews 2020 - ALL MOVIES/FILMS
First Review, First Day, Live Reviews of 2020 films
Sab Kushal Mangal could have been a decent situational comedy with better writing and editing. It is an average film that won't give you a headache nor would it leave you satisfied. This year, we had a comedy around Pakadwa Vivaah in Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra's Jabariya Jodi. Karan Kashyap's Sab Kushal Mangal is in the same genre. The film reminds you of Priyadarshan's comedies like Hungama and Malamal Weekly in it's treatment. Here is our review of the film... What is it about? Pappu Mishra (Priyaank Sharma) is the hotshot reporter of a Hindi news channel. His reality-style reporting of Pakadwa Vivaah has made him a known face. Baba Bhandari (Akshaye Khanna) the local Baahubali of Karnalganj decides to kidnap him for a girl. A series of misunderstanding occur, which changes the lives of Pappu and Baba Bhandari. |

Shimla Mirchi follows perennially unlucky-in-relationships Avinash (Rajkummar Rao) who falls head-over-heels in love after casting his first sight on Naina (Rakul Preet Singh) while on a family vacation in Shimla, only to find his bumbling, fumbling ways at handling a relationship, mixed with a bit of wrong advice, land him in a right pickle when Naina's mother, Rukmini (Hema Malini) mistakes Avinash's surreptitious advances for herself Films that have been delayed for long, usually carry a sign of impending doom once they finally see the light of day. Very few like Pakeezah (16-year delay), Bajirao Mastani (8-year delay) and, to an extent, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (6-year delay) have managed to rise above the curse on the strength of their quality that stands the test of time. Unfortunately, Shimla Mirchi joins the rest of the sorry bunch. What's it about Shimla Mirchi follows perennially unlucky-in-relationships Avinash (Rajkummar Rao) who falls head-over-heels in love after casting his first sight on Naina (Rakul Preet Singh) while on a family vacation in Shimla, only to find his bumbling, fumbling ways at handling a relationship, mixed with a bit of wrong advice, land him in a right pickle when Naina's mother, Rukmini (Hema Malini) mistakes Avinash's surreptitious advances for herself and responds in kind, given her lovelorn life post a lengthy separation from her husband (Kanwaljit Singh). |

Darbar presents Rajinikanth as Aadhithya Arunachalam, a cop with grey shades, who doesn't hesitate to take the law in his own hands In this challenging scenario, avant-garde Director A.R. Murugadoss, a seld-proclaimed, diehard Rajinikant fan himself (then again, who isn't), throws his hat in the ring, making his task all the more testing by giving Thalaivar to don the khaki uniform after 25 years. Does the ace Director and one of the world's biggest moviestars manage to pull-off a fine balancing act in Darbar for both the fans and neutral viewers? Well, sometimes they do, at other times they don't. Read my full Darbar movie review below to know more... |
