Default Should I Buy SEO Software?

Automated SEO software is used by thousands of website owners in niches that span every imaginable industry. Automated SEO software has been around since the late 90's internet boom, but has changed to adapt to the new ranking algorithms of the various search engines.

Among SEO purists, automated software is often scorned. For those, however, who are busy processing orders, handling customer service, and the other many tasks of running an internet based business, automated SEO software has the appeal of being a great time consumer while bringing their website that elusive top ranking.

So does automated SEO software work? Is it really useful, and if so, when is it useful and how should it be used?

Does Automated SEO Software Work?

To an extent, automated SEO software can be extremely effective. When dealing in niche categories, automated SEO software can be very effective in launching a website into the top of the search engines. However, the more competitive the niche becomes, or the more general the keyword a website targets, the more ineffective automated SEO software becomes.

The reason for this is simple. SEO software is able to cover most of the basics of SEO. However, there are a lot of more advanced aspects of SEO which are not covered by these programs. In addition, truly good SEO needs to be accomplished by hand, as automated attempts result in spammy, user-unfriendly websites.

This does not mean that automated systems do not have a legitimate use. In less competitive industries these automated programs can be all that is required to acheive a top ranking. Even in the more competitive industries, automated programs can be useful for analyzing a website's optimization.

When Automated SEO Software is Useful

There are two basic aspects of SEO, on-page optimization and off-page optimization. Off page optimization consists of building inbound links and optimizing the anchor texts of those links. On page optimization involves finding the proper keywords for your website and optimizing the many elements of your website for those keywords.

Automated SEO software is mostly useful for the intricate details of on-page optimization. Figuring keyword density and targeting your keywords properly can take quite a bit of time to do manually, but an automated program can be of great assistance in this area.

It should be noted that using SEO software that creates pages for you is never recommended. Search engines frown upon automatically generated pages and do actively look for websites that use pages that were created by automated systems. When they find such pages, they usually apply some type of penalty to the site.

However, programs such as Axandra are extremely useful in analyzing every aspect of your on page optimization. Axandra has a system that will provide a full multi-page report analyzing every aspect of your website. Once you have a firm grasp on how search engines are currently viewing your website, you can take the steps necessary to optimize your website to be viewed more favorably.

Furthermore, if you are involved in link exchange campaigns to any extent, SEO programs can also be useful. SEO Elite has a very good system in place for finding good link partners and managing the complicated process of link exchanges.

When SEO Software is Not Useful

SEO software is by no means the answer to an automatic top ranking. Regardless of what any product may promise, SEO is task that takes attention and manual work.

With that in mind, it is a fairly safe bet to assume that any SEO software that promises automatic results without having to do any work is not useful for your website. There is no such thing as an automatic #1 ranking.

SEO software should be used primarily to automate a few of the processes that normally would take a lot of time to complete. In addition, software that helps you analyze your website, identify errors, and see items that you may have forgotten in your optimization is useful.

One Should Never Rely on SEO Software Entirely

While SEO software can be useful, especially for the time-strapped website owner, it is not a complete answer to obtaining a top ranking in the search engines.

As a website owner, your time working on SEO should be spent on learning the general practices that make websites rank well. Once you learn these practices using SEO software becomes less important, and SEO takes less and less time.
