New faces on the telly block

The new year hasn’t just introduced new shows to watch out for but also new faces to look out for in 2010. Needless to say that most of the debutants this year have been roped in for YRF’s new TV shows on Sony. Let’s take a look at some of these new entries in the telly world:

Ravi Shastri: He’s the new hottest face on small screen currently seen in YRF’s Rishta.com. Well, not everybody must be aware of the fact that this young dashing actor from London has done a small role in Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal. Yes, though it was a small role, he managed to impress Yash Raj and that’s how he got his TV break. He’s playing the male lead as Rohan Mehra on Sony’s Rishta.com, who’s supposed to be a classic playful women’s man.

Shireen Farooq: Shireen Farooq aka Asmin on Yash Raj’s new show Seven, plays a character who possesses the power to heal herself every time she’s hurt. Asmin is the lithe, athletic, headstrong and a tomboy but at the same time is a feminine with a fragile ego and is ever ready to pick up a fight. Shireen was a Femina Miss India contestant n 2008, after which she was offered a role in Seven.

Shivam Sood: He’s another fresh face on TV to watch out for this year once again in YRF’s Seven. Shivam aka Eklavya plays a character, who possesses the power to move at supersonic speed. In real life, Shivam is actually an engineer from Himachal Pradesh, who was chosen by YRF after his small role in Prithviraj Chauhan.

Rahul Bagga: Rahul aka Mahendra Ranade on YRF’s show Powder moved to Mumbai in 2007 from Delhi. So far he has done nearly 250 stage shows, thousands of street shows and commercials for television. Rahul is playing an intelligence officer at the Narcotics Control Bureau on the show.

Pankaj Tripathi: Pankaj aka Naved Ahmed Ansari in Powder plays a role of a headstrong drug lord. The serial shows how Ansari committed his first crime at the age of 12 and moved on to be the boss of the biggest drug business in India. The actor graduated from National School of Drama, New Delhi and has worked with some of the most reputed filmmakers from Bollywood. He was featured as the main villain in Bhavana Talwar’s Dharam, which won the National award in 2008.
