Sony Entertainment Television, announced the CID Gallantry Awards today. It's an initiative to encourage and honour acts of bravery in the society. To pick these heroes, Sony has roped in an impressive jury panel which consists of Kavita Karkare, widow of martyr Hemant Karkare, actor, author Gerson da cunha; IBN 7 Managing Editor, Ashutosh and writer, historian Shanta Gokhale.
CID Gallantry Awards is demarcated into two categories – Physical Bravery (Bravery to save life or property of oneself or someone else) & Social Bravery (Bravery to combat social evils like drug abuse, dowry, child labour, illiteracy, environmental pollution, etc). The prestigious title will be conferred to two brave winners each in the category of
‘Below 15 years’ and ‘Above 15 years’.
Entries for the CID Gallantry Awards will be open from 15 August to 2 October, 2009 and can be sent by post, online, and by calling on MSM (Multi Screen Media) IVR number.
