Romance blossomed between the two in 1965, when both were introduced to each other through common friends. Apparently, it has been said that Tiger gifted a fridge to Sharmila to win her heart. Sharmila finally said yes to him and they got married in 1969. There was constant speculation that the marriage would not last but both proved the world wrong.
